  • Publication number: 20180172305
Abstract: An air conditioner maintains a pleasant indoor temperature or humidity without making a user feel wind speed. The air conditioner includes a housing comprising a discharge plate having a plurality of discharge holes and an outlet, a heat exchanger configured to exchange heat with air introduced into the housing, a blower fan configured to allow the heat-exchanged air to flow through the discharge plate or the outlet, a discharge blade having a plurality of blade holes and configured to open and close the outlet; and a controller configured to control the heat-exchanged air to be discharged through the discharge holes and the blade holes when the outlet is closed and configured to reduce a frequency of a compressor to a predetermined value when an indoor relative humidity is within a predetermined range.

  • Publication number: 20180087797
Abstract: An air conditioner and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The air conditioner is able to operate in an efficient cooling cycle while simultaneously guaranteeing superior cooling performance in a low-temperature operation region. In the air conditioner, an airflow directing apparatus, which is installed in an outdoor unit, suppresses not only natural convection of the air, but also heat exchange between the condenser and outdoor air by the blowing fan, such that the air conditioner forms a normal cooling cycle by guaranteeing condenser pressure. The air conditioner guarantees cooling performance of a low-temperature operation region by adjusting the amount of outdoor air flowing through blade control of the airflow directing apparatus, and operates in an efficient cooling cycle, resulting in acquisition of compressor reliability.

  • Publication number: 20180073960
Abstract: A diagnosis control method of an air conditioner is provided to clearly inform a user of an air conditioner installation error. The diagnosis control method includes receiving a test run command or a self-diagnosis command for diagnosis of the air conditioner, performing a first test run to diagnose an assembly state of the air conditioner, performing a second test run to diagnose pipe connection of the air conditioner and an amount of refrigerant in the air conditioner, performing a determination including diagnosing a state of the air conditioner based on operation results of the first test run and the second test run, and displaying the diagnosis result through a display device provided at an indoor unit of the air conditioner.

  • Publication number: 20170023264
Abstract: An air conditioner and a control method thereof perform cooling through an outlet if room temperature or room humidity is high to reduce the room temperature or the room humidity, and closing the outlet to perform cooling at low velocity through an outlet hole if room temperature or room humidity reaches a predetermined value so that a user can little feel the wind velocity of cooling of the air conditioner, while maintaining indoor space at pleasant temperature or humidity. By performing cooling at low velocity through the outlet hole formed in the lower portion of the air conditioner, it is possible to cool the lower area of indoor space at pleasant temperature when a user is asleep.

  • Patent number: 5896920
Abstract: A heat exchanger fin includes a combination of a flat section, a wavy section, and a slit section arranged successively in a first direction, in order to compensate for different velocities of air passing across those sections, respectively, in a second direction transversely of the first direction, and thereby provide a uniform heat exchange rate across the fin.

  • Patent number: 5685367
Abstract: A heat exchanger includes a plurality of spaced apart parallel fins through which pipes extend. A fluid flow is passed between the fins in heat exchanging relationship with respect to a heat exchange medium conducted through the pipes. Each fin includes groups of slits formed therein for converting the fluid flow to a turbulent flow. The slits of each group are arranged in a radiant pattern around a respective pipe. Each fin is also formed with vertical louvers disposed upstream and downstream of each pipe with reference to the direction of the fluid flow. Each louver is formed by a bent portion of the fin which is slanted with respect to the plane of the fin to redirect fluid flow from one side of the fin to the other side.
