  • Patent number: 9117216
Abstract: An Internet use profile is created by a parent or guardian of an Internet user via a client-side software application at the user's computer. The use profile is submitted via the Internet to an intelligent network component. The use profile sets the duration for Internet use in general and sets the duration for access to particular Internet sites such as chat rooms, shopping sites, etc. The use profile is stored locally on the user's computer and remotely at the intelligent network component. When the user attempts to log on to the Internet via her Internet service provider, the client-side application verifies that the user computer has not already exceeded allowed Internet connection time in a previous Internet connection. If not, the connection to the Internet is allowed. After the connection is established, an Internet usage monitoring and controlling application at the intelligent network component monitors the time of connection between the user computer and the Internet.

  • Patent number: 8989365
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for monitoring calls routed to a telephone network-based voice mail system. When a subscriber receives a telephone call, a determination is made as to whether the call should be routed to the voice mail system. If call monitoring services are activated, a three-way communication is set up between the calling party, the voice mail system and the subscriber. The subscriber is bridged into the call on a listen-only basis, but upon command by the subscriber, the subscriber may answer the call.

  • Patent number: 8811583
Abstract: Files are easily located based on addresses associated with calls. When a call is processed to, or received at, an address, the address may be used to query a database. The database stores associates between addresses and files stored in memory. All filenames related to the address may be displayed, thus allowing a user to quickly launch the files associated with a calling number.

  • Patent number: 7333597
Abstract: A method and system are provided for locating and retrieving stored computer files that are related to an incoming telephone call directed to a computer user. A called party receives a telephone call while the called party is operating her computer. A computer telephony interface receives caller identification information on the calling party and uses that information to launch a software synchronization program for locating files stored on the called party's computer that are related to the calling party. A dialog box is displayed on the screen of the called party's computer that provides the caller identification on the calling party and provides an icon for displaying a list of stored files related to the incoming caller. The list of files may be automatically presented to the called party, or the called party may retrieve the list of stored files by selection of the icon presented in the dialog box.

  • Patent number: 6879682
Abstract: Data is mapped between an advanced intelligent network (AIN) protocol message and an integrated services digital network (ISDN) protocol message for use by an intelligent network telecommunications system components. At a service control point, an AIN message is populated in an AIN protocol format with data required for providing a call handling service. The AIN message is routed to a switch associated with a service node. At the switch associated with the service node, an ISDN message is populated according to an ISDN protocol format with the data from the AIN message. If any data from any data field of the AIN message does not correspond to a matching data field of the ISDN message, a data field of the ISDN message is selected for populating with any data that does not correspond to a matching data field of the ISDN message. The ISDN message is routed to the service node that extracts the data from each data field of the ISDN message for providing the call handling service.

  • Patent number: 6834103
Abstract: A method and system are provided for caller control of telephone calls placed to telephone lines provisioned with a call waiting feature. A call waiting control feature is provisioned at the local telephone switch of the calling party. After a directory number of a called party is entered, a determination is made as to whether the called party has a call waiting feature, and if so, whether her telephone line is busy. If the line has an activated call waiting feature and the line is busy, the call attempt is terminated. If the called party's line does not have a call waiting feature, or if the line does have call waiting, but the called party's line is not busy, the call attempt proceeds. If the call attempt is to be terminated, a message may be played to the caller to alert the caller that the called party's line is busy, that a call waiting feature is activated on the called party's line, and that the call attempt is being terminated.

  • Patent number: 6754325
Abstract: A method and system are provided for allowing caller control of calls directed to a called party where the called party has forwarded incoming calls. A call forwarding control feature is selected at the local telephone switch of the calling party on a call-by-call basis. Alternatively, the call forwarding control feature may be provisioned at the switch for all outgoing calls. After a directory number of a called party is entered, a determination is made as to whether the called party has call forwarding service and whether the called party as activated call forwarding for incoming calls. If the called party has activated a call forwarding service for incoming calls, the caller's switch is instructed to terminate the call attempt. A message may be played to the caller to alert the caller that the call attempt is being terminated. If the called party's calls are not forwarded, the caller's call is connected to the called party.

  • Publication number: 20030202651
Abstract: A system for a caller to control a distinctive ring for a telephone call includes a service switching point and a service control point. The service switching point is operable to receive a feature code and a called directory number, and to issue a query in response to receiving the feature code. The service control point is operable to receive the query and issue a response to the service switching point. The response includes a distinctive ring parameter. Upon receiving the response from the service control point, the service switching point processes the call so that the distinctive ring parameter causes a distinctive ring signal to be applied to a called telephone line associated with the called directory number.
