Abstract: The present invention concerns a scent-bearing and multimedia card or disk for use in conjunction with scent recovery and multimedia playback systems. The scent-bearing and multimedia card or disk comprises an encapsulated optical storage disk for storing multimedia information, and an associated scent storage medium for storing at least one scent. The scent-bearing and multimedia card or disk contains digital scent recovery and multimedia playback control information for use by an associated scent recovery/release and multimedia playback system. The digital scent recovery and multimedia control information is used by the multimedia playback and scent release system to coordinate multimedia playback and scent release. Additional embodiments of the present invention comprise electrostatic scent release systems and methods for effectively and efficiently releasing scent stored in the scent- and multimedia-bearing card or disk.

Abstract: The present invention is related to a method and an apparatus for distortion detection of a scanned image. The method for distortion detection of a scanned image comprises: a) obtaining a first value representative of a first scanning position for the image; b) obtaining a second value representative of a second scanning position for the image; and c) comparing the first and second values to determine there is a line-drop situation when the first and second values obtained in a sequential order are not predeterminedly sequential values. The apparatus for distortion detection of a scanned image comprises a value generator generating two values respectively representative of two scanning positions for the image, and a comparing unit for comparing the two values to determine there is a line-drop situation when the two values obtained in a sequential order are not predeterminedly sequential values.

Abstract: The lock comprises a lock casing in which there is slidably mounted a lock plate movable between a projected locking position and a retracted unlocking position by a manually actuable operating member projecting from the front face of the casing. A plurality of push button assemblies are mounted in the casing, and each assembly includes a push button, an interlock block and a code changer, the push buttons projecting from the front of the casing and the code changers being accessible at the rear of the casing. By operating the push buttons to selected positions in accordance with the "combination", the interlock blocks are positioned to release the lock plate for operation by the actuating member. The code changers are operable to angularly adjust the interlock blocks to set the desired "combination".
