Abstract: An electronic device includes a display device and a processing unit. The display device includes a display panel, a backlight module with a light source unit for providing light to the display panel, and a driver circuit. The light source unit has a plurality of light emitting regions each being independently controlled by the driver circuit. The processing unit may split a display screen of the display panel into a plurality of windows, and, in response to occurrence of a predefined event corresponding to at least one of the windows, controls the driver circuit to disable light emission of a part of the light emitting regions that corresponds to that window.
