  • Patent number: 8788729
Abstract: A system includes a memory that stores and outputs data in a first-in-first-out order. A sequence generator generates a sequence of first values, and randomly assigns the first values to blocks of the memory. A first memory module, based on the sequence of first values, accesses a first block of the memory. A conflict module, in response to a write or read conflict existing between the first and second memory modules due to the first memory module accessing the first block, resolves the write or read conflict. The conflict module resolves the write or read conflict by reading a value from the first block, and based on the value, either (i) causing the first memory module to write to a second block of the memory instead of the first block, or (ii) preventing the first memory module from reading from the first block.

  • Publication number: 20140078996
Abstract: A MIMO beamforming method comprises receiving at a base station information regarding a difference between an ideal beamforming matrix and an averaged beamforming direction, using the information to construct a beamforming matrix at the base station, and performing a beamforming operation using the reconstructed beamforming matrix. Alternatively, the method comprises computing at a subscriber station an averaged beamforming direction, computing at the subscriber station a quantization index corresponding to a differential matrix in a differential codebook, and transmitting the quantization index across a wireless channel of the wireless network. The differential codebook may be constructed by identifying a codebook center and transforming a predefined codebook that is stored in a memory of a component of the wireless network.

  • Patent number: 8447900
Abstract: A first in, first out (FIFO) buffer system includes memory with a plurality of memory blocks. A first FIFO control module generates and assigns a first random sequence to the memory blocks and stores first data in the memory blocks according to the first random sequence. A second FIFO control module generates and assigns a second random sequence to the memory blocks that is different than the first random sequence and stores second data in the memory blocks according to the second random sequence.

  • Patent number: 8347152
Abstract: A PHY abstraction mapping between the link level and system level performance is presented based on mapping between the mean RBIR (Received Bit Information Rate) of the transmitted symbols and their received LLR values after symbol-level ML detection in SISO/MIMO wireless systems, such as WiMAX. In MIMO antenna configuration, the mapping is presented for both vertical and horizontal encoding. An embodiment of this invention provides the PER/BLER prediction in the actual system, enabling the system to use more aggressive methods to improve the system performance.

  • Patent number: 8179844
Abstract: A base station is capable of unifying a single-user MIMO scheme with a multi-user MIMO scheme by receiving a Rank-1 CQI values from one or more subscriber stations. The base station also receives preceding vectors from the subscriber stations, and then determines which of the subscriber stations has a best Rank-1 CQI value. The base station then determines a beam forming matrix to use based at least in part on the vectors received from the subscriber station having the best Rank-1 CQI value. The base station then broadcasts data to the subscriber station using the beam forming matrix corresponding to the subscriber station having the best Rank-1 channel quality indicator to implement single-user MIMO in one or multiple streams to that subscriber station, or to the subscriber stations having the best Rank-2 channel quality indicators to implement multi-user MIMO in multiple streams.
