  • Publication number: 20130010695
Abstract: A system and method for adaptively managing frame size in a wireless multihop network is disclosed. In one embodiment, a packet is transmitted from a source to a destination. A acknowledgement packet is received and a successful acknowledgement packet counter is incremented if the acknowledgement packet arrives prior to a time-out of a timer. A frame size is increased if the successful acknowledgement packet counter reaches a specified value. If the acknowledgement packet arrives after the time-out of the timer, the successful acknowledgement packet counter is reset and the frame size is decreased. These procedures can be repeated until the frame size is greater than or equal to a maximum frame size or less than or equal to a minimum frame size.

  • Patent number: 7965738
Abstract: A system and method for adaptively managing frame size in a wireless multihop network (100) is disclosed. In one embodiment, a packet is transmitted from a source to a destination (420). A acknowledgement packet (422) is received and a successful acknowledgement packet counter is incremented if the acknowledgement packet arrives prior to a time-out of a timer (444). A frame size is increased if the successful acknowledgement packet counter reaches a specified value (446, 448). If the acknowledgement packet arrives after the time-out of the timer, the successful acknowledgement packet counter (460) is reset and the frame size (462) is decreased. These procedures can be repeated until the frame size is greater than or equal to a maximum frame size (450) or less than or equal to a minimum frame size (464).

  • Patent number: 7722804
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a pressed scandate dispenser cathode, firstly, scandium nitrate, barium nitrate, calcium nitrate, aluminum nitrate and ammonium metatungstate (AMT) are dissolved in de-ionized water, respectively, and then mixed with a solution of a cross-link agent such as citric acid and H2O2. After water bathing, the mixed aqueous solution turns into gel, and the powders are obtained after the gel calcination. Secondly, the calcined powders are reduced by hydrogen. Finally, the reduced powders are pressed into shapes and then sintered in the furnace with the atmosphere of hydrogen or by Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS 3.202-MK-V) in vacuum.

  • Patent number: 7623448
Abstract: The invention provides various schemes for negotiating communications between wireless mesh network nodes operating in accordance with the IEEE 802.11e standard. However, more generally, the invention can be operated in accordance with other communication standards. According to a broad embodiment of the invention, a method is provided in which meeting durations are divided into at least two portions, an uplink transmission portion and a downlink transmission portion. In order to protect the negotiation packets from collisions, the negotiation process is combined with the uplink and downlink data transmissions. In some aspects of the invention, the negotiation process is protected from collisions by using the transmission opportunity (TXOP) protocol that is available in the IEEE 802.11e standard. The inventive methods can be used with a contention based protocol or a contention free based protocol.

  • Publication number: 20070019544
Abstract: Described are a method and system for determining whether to establish a call over an internet protocol (IP)-based network. A network device inspects an IP packet to determine that the IP packet conveys a message to initiate a call. The network device determines a shortest path through a link-state network to be taken by traffic associated with the call if the call is admitted. The network device also determines whether each link in the shortest path through the link-state network is available for supporting the traffic associated with the call and issues a message that rejects admission of the call if at least one link in the shortest path through the link-state network is unavailable for supporting the traffic associated with the call.

  • Patent number: 7158497
Abstract: The invention provides a novel protocol suite for supporting micro-mobility within a radio access network (RAN). The protocol suite and comprises three separate protocols, namely a Mobile Registration Protocol, a Handoff Affected Router Discovery Protocol (HARDP) and a Mobile Location Update Protocol. The Mobile Registration Protocol is used to register mobile terminals within a RAN while the Mobile Location Update Protocol is used to update mobile terminal reachability during a handoff. The HARDP protocol is used at network boot-up time to identify a subset of routers that needs to be updated when a mobile terminal handoff occurs between two neighboring radio access nodes.

  • Patent number: 7082116
Abstract: An object-based framework for a wireless access network is provided. Several applications of the proposed framework to enable multicasting and RSVP in the wireless access network are also provided. The object-based framework solves the problem of micro-mobility, in which a mobile host can maintain active TCP sessions during handoff. The location transparency and object serialization functions of distributed object technology are used to solve IP mobility issues.

  • Patent number: 6940835
Abstract: A method and apparatus for bi-directional transfer of information between a corresponding host and a mobile host in a communications network where each user is assigned a unique network address. In accordance with the teaching of the invention, mobility M- and N-proxies are provided for intercepting data incoming from the mobile host and redirecting it to the corresponding host via transitional transmission sessions established by the proxies, such that the migration of the mobile host from one coverage area to another is transparent to the network application running on the mobile host.

  • Publication number: 20020068584
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data to a mobile device in which location data is received from the mobile device. A data packet is encapsulated in an encapsulation packet in which the encapsulation packet has a destination address corresponding to the location data. At least a portion of a network path to the device is determined based on the location data. The encapsulated data packet is decapsulated at a network switch. The data packet is transmitted to the mobile device.
