Abstract: A method for displaying a background image in a mobile telephone that downloads background images from a computer, stores the downloaded background images in a memory, and displays a selected one of the stored background images. The method comprises displaying the selected background image for a predetermined time, in a background image display request condition; determining whether an urgent character message display condition has occurred while the background image is displayed; upon detection of the urgent character message display condition, stopping display of the background image and displaying the urgent character message; and upon detection of a normal character message display condition, continuing to display the background image, and after expiration of a predetermined time, displaying the normal character message.

Abstract: A method for displaying the status of a radio terminal during initialization, incoming calls, and outgoing calls, by using icons so as to be easily recognized by a user. The method includes the steps of displaying related icons; shifting a movable icon or an activity icon; checking whether a condition is met; if a condition is met, displaying an idle status; and if the condition is not met, returning to the step of shifting the movable icon or shifting the activity icon, whichever corresponds to the status of the radio terminal.

Abstract: A method for storing telephone numbers of communication terminals. The method includes the steps of receiving a telephone number entered after a telephone number storage mode is selected; checking whether there is name data stored in a specific area of a memory; if the name data is detected, displaying the name data; checking whether any name is selected; if a name is selected, storing the telephone number and the selected name in a first storage area of the memory; and storing the selected name in a second storage area of the memory.

Abstract: A mobile telephone with an accounting function enables a user to visually check a call charge through a display unit. The mobile telephone includes a display unit for displaying a call charge according to call charge data, and a controller for calculating the call charge at a predetermined time interval beginning at a time when a call success message is received from a mobile telephone switching office, and providing the call charge data to the display. The mobile telephone includes a memory for storing the call charge, and a keypad with which a user can input charge rate data, wherein the controller stores the charge rate in the memory and calculates the call charge based on the charge rate.
