  • Publication number: 20120304266
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method and system for authenticating communication between a plurality of accessory devices or services and one or more media devices by using a single authentication processor. The method includes the steps of establishing a communication of a media device attached to an accessory device with an authentication processor through an authentication processor manager, authenticating the accessory device by the media device based on a digital certificate and a digital signature; and authenticating the media device by the accessory device based on verification of the digital certificate and the digital signature.

  • Publication number: 20120282967
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods to allow a multimedia device to operate in multiple modes of configuration simultaneously. The disclosed multimedia system includes a first communications circuitry having an access point connected to an external network and a number of devices. The first communications circuitry can receive and distribute media content over a wireless network, the wireless circuitry facilitating multi-modal simultaneous configuration of the multimedia device. The multi-modal simultaneous configuration includes a first mode and a second mode. The first mode facilitates exchange of data between the multimedia device and the other devices through the access point such as a wireless access point. The second mode facilitates direct exchange of data between the multimedia device and other devices in the wireless network without utilization of the access point. The multimedia device can change its mode of configuration based on a predefined trigger.

  • Publication number: 20110295974
Abstract: The transfer of media transmitted from a media provider from a first rendering device to a second includes establishing a network connection between the media provider and the second rendering device based on a network location and session context information. A desired transmission duplication of the media is determined such that the duplication will prevent substantial interruption of the rendering of the media as experienced by a user listening to both of the rendering devices, and that desired transmission duplication is sent to both the first rendering device and the second rendering device. The transmission is continued from the media provider to the second rendering device.

  • Publication number: 20110246566
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a media profile that is based on receiving data from various content distributors and creating a media profile. The media profile is web-based and accessible via an API. Data can be provided to the media profile host server via the API, and an end-user's media preferences can be stored in the media profile. The media profile is accessed by content distributors such that a customized media experience may be offered to the end-user without the need for the content distributor to gather his own separate data. The media profile can also store billing information for the end-user and act as a single reputable platform to conduct financial transactions.

  • Patent number: 8005062
Abstract: Included are embodiments for communicating data using a plurality of formats. At least one embodiment of a method includes transmitting a plurality of first format data frames with a predetermined time period between transmitted first format data frames and determining a duration of the time period between the transmitted first format data frames. Similarly, some embodiments include fragmenting a second format data frame into a plurality of second format subframes such that the second format subframes may be transmitted during the time period between the transmitted first format data frames.

  • Patent number: 5608779
Abstract: Communication systems having single switching center configurations (100) or multiple switching center configurations (200) detect the occurrence of a mobile-to-mobile call using control messages. When it is determined that the call is mobile-to-mobile, a switching center (101) in the single switching center configuration instructs transcoders (121-123) to operate in a transparent mode. Likewise, when it is determined that the call is mobile-to-mobile, multiple switching centers (201-203) the multiple switching center configuration instruct transcoders (221-223) to operate in the transparent mode. While operating in the transparent mode, the transcoders do not convert compressed digital voice (402) to non-compressed digital voice (401) and vice versa, but do allow the compressed digital voice to pass through as bit-stuffed compressed digital voice (403) and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 5561664
Abstract: A TDMA radio communication system provides communication service to a plurality of mobile communication units through use of a TDMA frame. The TDMA frame includes a plurality of timeslots that are distributed across a TDMA frame duration and are used to facilitate communications involving a first mobile and a second mobile. Audio delays are reduced using a method that includes the steps of measuring a hold time for each of the mobiles, and determining a present aggregate hold time based at least in part on the measured hold times. When the present aggregate hold time exceeds the TDMA frame duration, the method provides for the re-assignment of at least one of the mobiles to an alternate timeslot within the TDMA frame.
