  • Publication number: 20190208464
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for performing an enhanced network scan. In one aspect, during a network scan of a first frequency band, a station (STA) may provide a probe request to an access point (AP) of a communication network via the first frequency band. The probe request may indicate the STA supports communications in both the first frequency band and a second frequency band. Based on a probe response received from the AP, the STA may determine whether the AP supports communications in both the first frequency band and the second frequency band. The STA may determine to terminate the network scan without scanning the second frequency band in response to determining that the AP supports communications in both the first frequency band and the second frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20190082382
Abstract: This disclosure generally relates to systems, devices, apparatuses, and methods for providing adaptive discovery timing between wireless devices. A channel is identified for use by a wireless communication device. One or more channel conditions associated with the channel are determined. The system selects a value for a minimum wait time from multiple possible minimum time values based on the one or more channel conditions. In one example, the minimum wait time may represent the amount of time that the wireless communication device will wait before sending a probe request on the channel. In another example, the selected minimum wait time may represent the amount of time that the wireless communication device will remain on the channel after sending the probe request on the channel.

  • Patent number: 10038995
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A communication device may utilize enhanced roaming techniques to use multiple channel maps for a high density AP environment. For instance, a communication device performs at least a partial channel scan by a communications device while the communications device is connected to an access point (AP) associated with a basic service set identifier (BSSID). The communication device further selects a channel map from a plurality of channel maps associated with the BSSID based at least in part on the partial scan, wherein each of the channel maps associated with the BSSID comprises a different set of signal strength measurements for a same set of neighboring APs. The communication device also uses the selected channel map as a basis for a roaming operation by the wireless device.

  • Patent number: 9998977
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communication. A station (STA) with a host processor and a radio processor may communicate with a first access point (AP) in a first subnet. The STA may store network information for the first subnet in memory of the STA. The STA may identify a second access point and determine, by the radio processor without communication with the host processor, whether the second access point is in the first subnet or a second subnet. The determination may be based at least in part on the network information stored in memory.

  • Patent number: 9986492
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for wireless communications. A communication device may utilize enhanced roaming techniques to dynamically adjust signal strength thresholds in a high density AP environment. For instance, a communication device determines a signal strength of a communication link between a wireless device and an access point (AP). The communication device further compares the signal strength value to at least a low threshold and a high threshold and performs a channel scan for the communication link when the signal strength value is below the low threshold. The communication device also adjusts the low threshold when the signal strength value is greater than the high threshold.
