  • Patent number: 5887323
Abstract: An apparatus and method for the production of a multicomponent yarn which is composed of several multifilament strands with differing characteristics, such as color. The individual strands are drawn in parallel and simultaneously by a pair of godets following spinning, and then crimped by compression in an air jet crimping device. According to the invention, the individual strands are spread apart from one another prior to run-off from the drawing godet in such a way that the distance in the axial direction between the run-off points of the individual strands on the godet surface is increased. This spreading of the strands assures that the strands do not intermix prior to entering the air jet crimping device.

  • Patent number: 5469609
Abstract: A yarn texturing apparatus which comprises a nozzle having a passageway through which the yarn is advanced, and a duct system for introducing heated air into the passageway. A perforated stuffer box is disposed adjacent the outlet end of the passageway. The duct system for the heated air includes an annular duct surrounding the passageway, and a supply duct communicating with the annular duct. Also, an adjustable deflector is mounted in the supply duct immediately adjacent the annular duct for imparting a circumferential component to the heated air as it enters the annular duct, and which in turn imparts a slight twist to the advancing yarn so as to facilitate its smooth advance.

  • Patent number: 4301578
Abstract: In the stuffing of synthetic continuous filamentary threads in stuffer boxes, special value is to be placed on the thermal treatment and especially the cooling of the initially crimped filaments. The filaments in the configuration of a compact thread plug, which is formed in the stuffer box, can be wound on a rotatably driven drum in several helical windings, the last thread plug winding can then be disentangled again at the end of the drum, and the finished texturized thread drawn off. The disentangling of the thread plug and the drawing off of the thread is improved by the present invention through an application of axial and/or radial forces or pressures onto the last thread plug winding in the region of the disentangling point. Suitable mechanical and pneumatic devices are provided by the invention for this purpose.
