  • Patent number: 9566988
Abstract: A method for locating a rail vehicle along a rail route, along which a waveguide is laid. Temporally successive electromagnetic pulses are fed into the waveguide and, for each emitted pulse, at least one back-scattering pattern generated by vehicle-induced back-scattering of the electromagnetic pulse is received and evaluated. The waveguide has at least one locating section along the rail route, in which locating section the vibration sensitivity of the waveguide and/or the vibration acting on the waveguide is greater or less than outside the locating section. The amplitude of the received back-scattering pattern is evaluated and a location signal is generated if the amplitude of the received back-scattering pattern increases or decreases over the course of time.

  • Patent number: 9457819
Abstract: A method for operating a locating device having a waveguide laid along a stretch of track to locate a rail vehicle on the stretch of track includes injecting electromagnetic pulses into the waveguide in succession or series and receiving and evaluating backscattering patterns produced by backscattering of the electromagnetic pulse for each emitted pulse. A vibration device located in the region of the stretch of track at a known position is activated at a predefined activation time and a vibration causing backscattering of the electromagnetic pulse is thereby produced at the known position, the duration between the activation time and the receipt of the backscattering pattern indicating the vibration is measured, and the measured duration is used to check the functionality or operation of the locating device or to calibrate the locating device. A locating apparatus for locating a rail vehicle along a stretch of track is also provided.

  • Patent number: 9061691
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for operation of a railway branch line, which has line devices, in particular points, signals, axle counters, beacons and/or approach signaling devices, for specific functions. At least one first line device can be operated in an active mode and in a power-saving mode. In order to simplify the switching from the power-saving mode to the active mode, the active mode of the first line device is activated by a second line device when a rail vehicle moves over the second line device, possibly after a predetermined delay time has elapsed.

  • Publication number: 20130169037
Abstract: A power supply device, an apparatus and an assembly with the power supply device and a method for supplying power to a track element of a track-bound traffic system. The power supply device for at least one track element of the track-bound traffic has a trackside receiving device for receiving energy which is transmitted actively by electromagnetic induction by a transmitting device or a track-bound vehicle, and a trackside energy storage device for at least partial storage of the energy received by the trackside receiving device. The track element is supplied with electrical power from the trackside receiving device. The power transmission is decoupled in time from the energy transfer from the transmitting device to the trackside receiving device.

  • Patent number: 4159052
Abstract: A clutch release bearing for use with a friction clutch for automotive vehicles having a ring-shaped spring release member. The clutch release bearing is formed as an anti-friction bearing wherein one of its race members has a portion extending axially away from the rolling bodies. The extending portion projects a distance sufficient to be inserted within the bore of the spring release member and to pass behind the rear wall and engage therewith. The race members of the bearing are made of sheet metal and are folded to provide substantially radial walls adapted to engage the front face of the spring release member or the clutch release actuating member. The projection of the one race member may be cylindrical or it may project as a ring-shaped body having slots forming resilient fingers interengaging with the arms of the spring release member.

  • Patent number: 3983443
Abstract: Device comprises an evacuated envelope and a heater-cathode assembly including an electrically-conductive, porous metal body containing electron-emission material and at least two electrically-resistive legs attached directly to spaced positions on the body. Electric current flowing through the legs and body generates heat in the legs, which heat is thermally conducted to the body. The parts are proportioned to reduce radiation losses by minimizing surface area. The structure reduces bulk and mass to permit short heating-up times.

  • Patent number: 3963105
Abstract: A friction clutch integrated with a clutch release bearing for use with automotive vehicles. The friction clutch is provided with a disc shape spring release member in which a plurality of radial slots are formed creating a corresponding number of radially extending spring-like arms. The clutch release bearing is formed as an anti-friction bearing wherein one of its race members has an annular shoulder extending substantially axially away from the rolling bodies located therebetween. The shoulder is provided with several tabs, or tangs, uniformly distributed about its free end and which extend through the slots between adjacent pairs of the spring release arms.
