  • Patent number: 6267836
Abstract: A method of manufacturing tape tabs for use in disposable absorbent articles such as diapers. The method includes steps of cutting a unitary strip of material along parallel curved transverse lines to product tab shapes in the strip material having rounded corners, doubling over the strip material into itself to form a gripping area, and cutting the strip material along parallel cut lines which extend from the curved transverse cut lines to the longitudinal edge to form individual tape tabs.

  • Patent number: 5273515
Abstract: An arrangement for transferring transversely folded printed products to a third fold has a mechanism for providing a first longitudinal fold, a subsequently arranged mechanism for forming a transverse fold and having an outlet gap, two devices for forming a third fold, located one above the other and each having an inlet gap, two drawing-in roller pairs associated with a respective one of the devices and each having a central axis located in one imaginary vertical plane. The inlet gaps of the devices for forming a third fold and the outlet gap of the mechanism for forming a transverse fold are arranged relative to one another so that an imaginary horizontal plane extending through the outlet gap is simultaneously a plane of symmetry for the inlet gaps. A mechanism for connecting the outlet gap with the inlet gaps and includes a first transporting roller pair, a product deflector and two mirror-symmetrical sheet guides of a same length.

  • Patent number: 4846107
Abstract: This apparatus can aqua-cultivate respective plant or animal varieties in fresh or sea water. The apparatus includes a reservoir having an inlet and outlet for containing the fresh or sea water together with the respective plants or animal varieties. A filter is coupled between the inlet and outlet in order to circulate and filter the water. A compressed air facility is coupled to the reservoir for increasing the pressure within it. Measurement instruments are coupled to the reservoir for providing a state signal signifying the state of the water in the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4834361
Abstract: A vane wheel laying out unit for sheet-by-sheet laying out of printing products for high speed roller rotary printing machines comprises a vane wheel including a shaft and a plurality of thin vane star discs fixedly mounted on the shaft in a lamellar fashion at a distance from one another, a band supply unit associated with the vane wheel for supplying printing products to the latter, a plurality of stationary blowing air nozzles each associated with a respective one of the vane star discs of the vane wheel so that a direction and an intensity of blowing air stream from the blowing air nozzles influence a friction between a printing product falling in one vane and an outer side of another vane which is arranged after the one vane, the vane star discs, the band supply unit and the blowing air nozzles are arranged in their position relative to one another so that the printing product before an ejection of its rear edge from the band supply unit is blockable by the one vane which receives the printing product fr

  • Patent number: 4732377
Abstract: In a rotary machine for processing a series of sheet-shaped products supplied at a rate which is synchronized with the machine cycles, a device for diverting the stream of products to processing directions in accordance with a desired mode of operation. The device includes at least one guiding tongue pivotably supported in the path of movement of the products. A cam disk attached to a driven gear is supported for rotation at a free end of a rocking arm whose other end is pivotably supported on the machine frame. A cam follower lever is spring biased into engagement with the cam disk and at its end is fixedly connected to the pivot shaft of the guiding tongue. The rocking arm is linked to a control device which either electrically or electromechanically by means of two solenoids sets the rocking arm in at least three different angular positions in dependency on the selected mode of stream diverting operation.

  • Patent number: 4652746
Abstract: A synchronizing device for an electrically actuated coupling automatically coupling structural units of processing machine, includes a driving shaft and a driven shaft and two synchronizing members each connected to the assigned shaft for joint rotation therewith. A light emitter is positioned at the first synchronizing member while a light-conducting cable, receiving light from the light emitter, conducts it to a photoelectric detector connected in an electric circuit which actuates the coupling. The angular position of the first synchronizing member relative to the second synchronizing member is adjusted by clamping elements connecting the first synchronizing member to a driving gear of the driving shaft.

  • Patent number: 3995850
Abstract: A sheet-material blank is advanced in a path and from laterally of the path a folding member is advanced slowly towards and into engagement with the blank, whereupon it is accelerated beyond the path to the other side thereof. The deflecting member is then withdrawn and the deflected portions of the blank are engaged between two rollers which rotate in mutually opposite directions and the blank is thereby folded by engagement with these rollers through the nip of which it passes.
