    Abstract: The process according to the invention comprises silanizing an aluminum silicate and then heating the product to 300.degree. to 600.degree.     Abstract: Olefins having from 2 to 4 carbon atoms are manufactured from methanol and/or dimethyl ether in the presence of water and a manganese-containing aluminum silicate catalyst. Before or after application of the manganese, the aluminum silicate is washed with a solution of ethylene-diaminetetraacetic acid or tartaric acid adjusted to a pH of from 3 to 7 by means of a base.
