  • Publication number: 20240014495
Abstract: A battery mounting structure includes a shear plate and a plurality of separate reinforcement plates. The shear plate extends in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle and includes a first thickness. The reinforcement plates are configured to be disposed between the shear plate and the battery housing assembly and are mounted on an upper surface of the shear plate. The reinforcement plates are spaced apart from each other and include a second thickness. The second thickness is greater than the first thickness.

  • Publication number: 20230415687
Abstract: An energy absorbing structure connects a first structure of a vehicle to an adjacent second structure of the vehicle. The energy absorbing structure includes support beams and lattice arrays. Each support beam is located at a respective corner of the energy absorbing structure and extend in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle. The support beams connect the first structure to the second structure. The lattice arrays are located at respective sides of the energy absorbing structure and form a periphery of the energy absorbing structure. Each lattice array connects adjacent support beams to each other.

  • Publication number: 20230331309
Abstract: The sill assembly for a motor vehicle includes a hollow support, a mechanical component, and holding elements. The hollow support extends along a longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle and defines a cavity. The mechanical component is disposed within the cavity of the hollow support. The mechanical component includes at least one reinforcing structure extending parallel to the longitudinal direction of the motor vehicle and including a strip-shaped profile having a width that extends transverse within the cavity. The holding elements are disposed within the cavity of the hollow support and secured to the mechanical component to position the mechanical component within the cavity. Each holding element has at least one form-fitting element having a shape corresponding to a form-fitting element of the hollow support to reduce the potential for rotational movement of the mechanical component relative to the hollow support. The holding elements are detached from the hollow support.

  • Publication number: 20180257598
Abstract: A vehicle includes a body, door, glass dome, and dynamic pillars. The body defines a cabin and has first and second static pillars. The door that accesses the cabin, is secured to the body, and is disposed between the first and second static pillars. The glass dome is secured to the body over the entirety of the cabin. The dynamic pillars are extendable in an upward direction and are secured to the body proximate to an outer perimeter of the glass dome.

  • Patent number: 10005118
Abstract: A method for the joining of hollow profiles made from high-strength steel, in particular to form a motor vehicle frame, the hollow profiles being connected to one another, nonpositively and positively against being pulled out, by pinching (crimping) in a connection zone, one end of at least one of the hollow profiles having a connection zone for pinching which is soft at least during forming. This soft connection zone may be hardened during pinching if at least one of the profiles to be joined is made from hardenable steel and is brought to austenizing temperature before pinching.

  • Patent number: 9296293
Abstract: A vehicle structure includes a first member extending obliquely beneath an outer surface of an underbody component, and a second member extending at an acute angle to the first member. The second member is arranged to form an apex near an end of the first member. The vehicle structure also includes an interconnecting member connected to both the first and second members at locations offset from the apex. The first member, the second member, and the interconnecting member cooperate to enclose a portion of the underbody component.

  • Publication number: 20140193659
Abstract: A sheet metal component for a vehicle comprising a metal sheet having thickened portions integrated into the metal sheet that reinforces local areas of the sheet metal component. The metal sheet has integrally formed longitudinal members and cross-members. A method of manufacturing a sheet metal component is also disclosed that comprises selecting a planar sheet metal blank that is cut to size to define an outer contour. At least one reinforcing layer is provided on the blank to form thickened portions of the blank. The method also includes the steps of heating the blank, forming the blank into the desired geometric shape of the sheet metal component, and hardening the sheet metal component.
