  • Patent number: 6623535
Abstract: Glyoxal in an aqueous solution is used in a fuel additive in order to reduce pollutants in the exhaust gases of gasoline and diesel engines. It is sufficient to add glyoxal in aqueous solution to gasoline in the dilution in the ratio of 1:10 000 and higher in order to obtain a reduction of unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in vehicles with catalytic converters at idle and at increased idle of almost 100%. Esterified aliphats and polyethyleneglycol are added as emulsifiers and solubilizers. Additionally, glyoxal can be used in form of its acetals and hemiacetals with the resultant product being added to the fuel in combustion engines in order to reduce the pollutant emission and carbon particles/deposits.

  • Patent number: 6407085
Abstract: The invention relates to a medicament containing mixtures of betasitosterol and phytosterol and/or betasitosterol and its physiological metabolites. Processes were discovered for dissolving betasitosterol, which in itself is difficult to dissolve, in various oils and paraffins and in glycerin, which processes offer new indications for the use of these substances. In addition, the esterification of the betasitosterol with carboxylic acids opens up therapeutic possibilities in asthma, inflammatory intestinal diseases, arterial hypertension, autoimmune diseases of the skin and pain relief which far exceed the currently known range of uses of betasitosterol and phytosterol/betasitosterol mixtures.

  • Patent number: 5762655
Abstract: The invention is a fuel and a method for producing an improved hydrocarbon fuel for internal combustion engines and turbines. The method includes the steps of subjecting a conventional hydrocarbon liquid fuel to ozonization. The ozonization is performed under one of two conditions. The first of the two conditions is a process of forming a current of the liquid fuel and bubbling an ozone-oxygen mixture in a countercurrent through the liquid fuel. The second of the two conditions is a process of enriching the liquid fuel with oxygen and subjecting the enriched fuel with ultraviolet radiation. Desirable concentrations of ozonization products in the fuel are from 0.1% o to 2.0% o.

  • Patent number: 4854255
Abstract: A sailing provision includes a multiprofile sail with a plurality of individual profiles, which overlap each other and which are variable in their distance from each other. The multiprofile sail replaces conventional one piece head sails or main sails. The multiprofile sails can be trimmed via a special rope construction and can be tensioned in windward or leeward direction. Since the individual profiles can be rotated rapidly around their axis near the luff of the sail, the system offers a capsizing security independent of tensioning in windward or lee direction and/or independent of the heeling angle.
