  • Patent number: 4001152
Abstract: A hot melt adhesive formulation comprising a thermoplastic in intimate admixture with a fuel. The hot melt adhesive formulation is molded into a convenient shape such as a rod, and upon ignition with an open flame, the fuel of the adhesive formulation undergoes a slow but sustained, burning, resulting in melting and dripping of the adhesive. Thus, a rod for example may be held at one end, ignited at the other end, and used to apply a smooth bead or puddle of adhesive without using a brush, gun applicator, or other means known to the art. The bead, because of the intimate admixtue of the fuel and the thermoplastic resin, continues to burn thereby remaining tacky for an extended time. This permits sufficient time to complete an assembly of parts and repositioning of the parts, if necessary.

  • Patent number: 3997936
Abstract: Apparatus for removing waste, lint, dust, dirt and other accumulations of solid matter from the underside of machinery, especially textile machinery such as carding machines while the latter is in operation or not, comprising a frame designed to be installed beneath the machine on the floor on which there is reciprocally mounted a wiper arranged to travel over the floor in reciprocation so as to traverse the entire area beneath the machine, vacuum chambers at two of the opposite ends of the frame having open sides parallel to the wiper which are closed by the wiper when the latter reaches an end position and a timer operable to connect the chambers to a vacuum source as the wipers are moved to a position closing them to remove the waste swept into the chambers by the wiper.

  • Patent number: 3940816
Abstract: Side lasting apparatus comprising a support for supporting a last, bottom side up and lasting instrumentalities supported at opposite sides of the last support between which a last mounted on the support with the lasting margin of an upper thereon projecting upwardly from the bottom is adapted to be moved by the support and wherein said instrumentalities are yieldably displaceable laterally and vertically by entrance of the last therebetween. There are flexible elements carried by the instrumentalities conformable to the shoulders of the last at each side by such displacement to fold the lasting margin inwardly over the bottom of the last as the last is moved between the instrumentalities.
