  • Publication number: 20110099314
Abstract: A trip recorder, a memory card or a cleaning card being passed by a reading device by an electric motor drive. The trip recorder attempts to establish communication with the inserted card. If no communication can be established, the reader device or the memory card is dirty, or the cleaning card is inserted in the trip recorder. In case of a failed attempt at communication, the electric motor drive moves the inserted card past the reader device repeatedly removing potential contamination.

  • Patent number: 7905394
Abstract: An assembly has a tachograph and a data memory, in particular a data memory of a data card. The tachograph has an interface designed to exchange data between the tachograph and the data memory, logic function modules and at least one memory. In a method for operating the tachograph, as a result of high security requirements, the data transfer between the data memory and the tachograph is extremely time-intensive. At the start of the data transfer a virtual reproduction of the data memory is created in the memory of the tachograph and the logic function modules first have read and write access to the virtual reproduction in the memory. Data is then regularly written to the data memory of the data card by a write access to the memory, thus eliminating the differences between the virtual reproduction and the data memory.

  • Patent number: 7866566
Abstract: In a method for transferring data from a tachograph (1) onto a smartcard (3), the smartcard (3) is moved out of and back into the tachograph (1) by an electromotive drive (8) as a function of stipulated conditions. In the process, spring contacts (6) of the tachograph (1) rub over contact areas (5) of the smartcard (3) and remove any dirt which may be present. The conditions for starting the electromotive drive (8) and the intended operation of the electromotive drive (8) are stored in a memory (10) of an electronic control device (9).

  • Publication number: 20090019387
Abstract: In a method for controlling a display (4) of a tachograph (DTCO) which can be connected to data memories (7) that are associated with defined groups, an ergonomic control of the complex functionality of a digital tachograph is provided while requiring little space. Individual groups are associated with defined functional groups or dialogs of the display (4) and the operational controls (3). The tachograph (DTCO) identifies the group the data memory (7) is associated with and then displays a selection of functional groups that can be selected by means of operational controls (3). The display (4) displays only functions and functional groups that are associated with the group of the data memory (7).

  • Publication number: 20090013412
Abstract: A data exchanging device (1), particularly a tachograph (DTCO), for exchanging data in a manipulation-proof manner between a card (3) and the data exchanging device (1) has a logic unit (4) which monitors data exchange between the card (3) and the data exchanging device (1). Especially the also legally sensitive recorded data of a tachograph are secured from being manipulated during data exchange while reliably recognizing and registering manipulation attempts by configuring the logic unit (4) such that a manipulation incident is recorded in a memory (5) of the data exchanging device (1) and/or the card (3) when the card (3) is not physically or logically present.

  • Publication number: 20080288127
Abstract: A data processing device (1), particularly a tachograph (DTCO) for a motor vehicle, has functional modules (FM) that control certain functions of the data processing device (1) or connected apparatuses, and data modules (DT) which trigger the functional modules in order to utilize the functions. The disadvantage in prior art lies in the fact that the adjustment effort is substantial because the entire product is adjusted. To decrease the effort required to make modifications while reducing the error proneness of said modifications, a communication module (ComCM) is supplied that cooperates with at least one standard interface module (CM) encompassing memory buffer address areas (SADR 1 to SADR 5), the communication module (ComCM) communicating at least one memory buffer address area (SADR 1) to a first data module (DT) so as to trigger a first functional module (FM).

  • Publication number: 20080262674
Abstract: A data processing arrangement, in particular a tachograph for a motor vehicle has a control device and at least one memory. The traceability of an error arising during the data processing arrangement operation can be better guaranteed. At least one partial area of the memory is embodied in the form of a sequence memory and a control device is constructed such that sequences of the data processing arrangement or of the tachograph are recorded in the sequence memory, wherein the sequence memory is provided with at least one ring memory which is organised such that an oldest input is overwritten by a new input, respectively. Thus, it is made possible to record a plurality of sequential events leading to a substantial error in the sequence memory such that the size of the memory is increased within economically acceptable limits during a long operation of the arrangement.

  • Publication number: 20080215892
Abstract: In a method for transferring data (D) between a first module (1) and a second module (2), data (D) can be transferred from a data memory (4) of the second module (2) to the first module (1) either in a secured or not secured manner. The time required for authentication (IV) is reduced by first transferring first data (D) in a not secured and then in a secured manner, wherein the data being used by means of a processor (CPU) of the first module (1) for a first process (III). The data (D) transferred in a not secured manner are compared with those transferred in a secured manner and if there is a difference, results from the first process (III) are discarded.

  • Publication number: 20080191042
Abstract: An arrangement (1) has a recording device, in particular a tachograph (2) for a motor vehicle, a voltage source (3) supplying power to the recording device and a sensor (S) transmitting a signal thereto, wherein different modules (7, 8, 9, MEM) of the recording device consume energy and are embodied in such away that they are connectable and disconnectable. In order to solve, in particular, a problem of a relatively unstable voltage supply, the aim of the invention is to design a system whose operation is low-affected by the voltage oscillations and interruptions and which is not overcharged by a just unstable energy supply. For this purpose, several (7, 8, 9, MEM) modules are disconnectable or connectable when the energy supply operating voltage (U) is modified.

  • Publication number: 20070283363
Abstract: A method for managing event entries (ABC, XYZ), which are assigned to events, by means of a digital tachograph (1) electronically records personal data concerning the operation of a commercial vehicle. Conventional methods are very limited in their capabilities, particularly with regard to influencing by a user. A solution for this is provided by virtue of the fact that events of basic components (BK1, BK2, BK3) are entered in a central event memory (2) with a priority (P1, P2), and an event module (3) selects events and furnishes them to a subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 5477141
Abstract: A device for short-distance recording for motor vehicles is disclosed for the evaluation of an accident or near-accident driving situation. A storage arrangement is provided in which speed measurements are simultaneously written into at least two parallel storage branches. A plurality of time-limited storage areas are defined in each storage branch. Each storage area has a storage portion which can be operated as a ring storage and a storage portion arranged subsequent to the latter which can be operated as a linear storage. The speed values, which are written into the ring storage in a continuous manner during the course of normal driving, are permanently stored in one storage branch when the criterion v equal to 0 km/hr occurs, and in the other storage branch when the criterion a greater than a deceleration threshold value occurs.
