  • Patent number: 5002345
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system for automotive vehicles comprising a brake master cylinder (1) connected to an unpressurized reservoir (12) and a brake line communicating with a working chamber (4, 5) of the brake master cylinder (1) and leading to pressure control valves (17, 18) of a brake slip control apparatus (19), connected downstream of which valves is at least one wheel brake. The working chamber (4, 5) of the brake master cylinder (1) on activation of the brake slip control apparatus (19), is connectable to a pressure-fluid source (30) by way of a throttling non-return valve (15, 16) closable in the direction of the wheel brake. The pressure of the fluid source is controlled to correspond to at least the pressure in the working chamber (4, 5) of the brake master cylinder (1). Thus, the brake system requires little structural and monitoring efforts and affords an energy supply for the brake slip control apparatus which is independent of the actuating system of the brake master cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4898430
Abstract: A dual-circuit brake system in which diagonally opposite wheels of an automotive vehicle are in communication with each brake circuit and, in the event of a traction slip control, the non-actuated wheel is hydraulically separated from the brake conduit. The valve is hydraulically driven, with the pressure difference between the pressure in the master brake cylinder (1) and the pressure in the pressure conduits (24, 25) being used as the switching pressure. By that measure, the valve is less susceptible to trouble and provides lower production costs.

  • Patent number: 4840436
Abstract: An anti-lock brake system with traction slip control includes a pedal-actuated, auxiliary-force-assisted braking pressure generator having a master cylinder to which the wheel brakes are connected by main brake lines, auxiliary-pressure hydraulic pumps, wheel sensors and electronic circuits for determining the wheel rotational behavior and for generating electric braking-pressure control signals which, for the purpose of brake slip control, serve to control electromagnetically actuatable pressure-fluid inlet valves and outlet valves provided in the pressure-fluid lines. Pistons of the master cylinder include central control valves which, in the brake's release position, open pressure-fluid connections between the pressure-fluid supply reservior and the pressure chambers and which, in the braking position, close the pressure-fluid connections. The brake lines communicate through supply lines with the pumps.

  • Patent number: 4828338
Abstract: A brake system with slip control is disclosed including a master cylinder at whose working chambers the wheel brakes are connected via inlet/outlet valve pairs. A pressure compensation reservoir and an auxiliary pressure supply system are connected to the working chambers via a control valve. The inlet valves of the driven wheels and the auxiliary pressure supply system are connected to the working chambers of the master cylinder via multi-directional valves which are open in the rest position and which can be changed over during traction slip control. The inlet valves of the non-driven wheels directly communicate with the working chambers. In the traction slip control phase, the auxiliary pressure is limited to a maximum pressure required by means of a pressure relief valve.

  • Patent number: 4803840
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system is described including a tandem master cylinder whose working chambers are connected by separate brake lines to pressure control valves of a brake slip control apparatus, having the wheel brakes connected downstream of the control valves. A pump unit including a pump communicates with the brake lines through pressure lines and non-return valves. Upon activation of the brake slip control apparatus, the drive of the pump is activated whereupon the pump feeds pressure fluid by way of the non-return valves into the brake line and the working chamber of the master cylinder. The fluid is under a pressure which is in excess of the maximum braking pressure attainable by actuation of the tandem master cylinder. For the purpose of pressure control, the tandem master cylinder includes central valves designed as control valves, by virtue of which the pressure in the working chambers is kept at the pressure level predetermined by an actuating force at the brake pedal.

  • Patent number: 4798422
Abstract: In a brake system, two groups of wheel brakes (17, 18) and a brake valve (12) for controlling the initial pressure of a pump (24) are connected to the two brake lines (10, 15; 11, 16) of a tandem master cylinder (1). Through the brake valve (12), the flow of delivery of the pump (24), is restricted in response to the pressure in the brake conduits (10, 11), thereby generating, in a pressure conduit (26) in communication with the pump outlet, a pressure proportional to the master cylinder pressure and, through check valves (31, 32), being fed into the brake conduits (15, 16) leading to the wheel brakes (17, 18). The pump outlet (26), moreover, through a pressure conduit (33), is in communication with a reserve pressure chamber (34) separated through a piston (35) from the working chamber (6) of the tandem master cylinder (1).

  • Patent number: 4793660
Abstract: A hydraulic brake system for automotive vehicles has a master brake cylinder connected to an unpressurized reservoir and a brake line connected to a working chamber of the master brake cylinder and leading to pressure control valves of a brake slip control device. The pressure control valves are followed by wheel brake cylinders. The working chamber of the master brake cylinder is connectible to a pressure medium source upon the starting of the brake slip control device. The outlet pressure of the pressure medium source lies above the maximum braking pressure achievable by applying the master brake cylinder. The working chamber's front side (away from the first master cylinder piston) is sealed by a second master cylinder piston sealedly arranged within the master cylinder. The second master cylinder piston is sealed relative to the master cylinder by a non-return valve gasket.

  • Patent number: 4787684
Abstract: A brake system is disclosed including a tandem master cylinder with a vacuum brake power booster and wheel brakes connected to the tandem master cylinder by brake lines. Each brake line contains a braking pressure modulator of a brake slip control appartaus, and interposed between the braking pressure modulators and the wheel brakes are braking pressure regulators which serve to reduce the pressure in the wheel brakes in relation to the pressure in the brake lines. To avoid impairment of the control behavior in the event of anti-lock control, the wheel brakes inserted after the braking pressure regulators are connectible by lines and solenoid valves in the braking pressure modulators directly to a return line leading to a supply reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4729611
Abstract: A vehicular hydraulic brake system with an anti-locking arrangement, wherein first valve devices (10, 16, 17, 20, 27, 28, 29, 30) are interposed between a master cylinder (3) and brake-actuating member (11, 12, 13, 14) which valve allow interruption of the supply of pressure fluid to the brake-actuating members (11, 12, 13, 14) and to removal of pressure fluid from brake-actuating members (11, 12, 13, 14). The first valve devices (10, 16, 17, 20, 27, 28, 29, 30) are controllable by a slip-monitoring electronics (18) as a function of the wheel rotational behavior, and provision is made of a device for ensuring availability of a minimum stroke of the master cylinder (3) as a reserve.
