  • Patent number: 6328683
Abstract: A device for pulling up the ends of transverse-conveyed flat tubular segments during the production of sacks or bags comprises lateral support elements, which run parallel to the conveying zone and between which a slit is formed that lies in the conveying plane and beyond which the ends to be pulled up project, and comprising mechanisms for pre-opening the ends by pulling apart the tubular sides that lie on top of each other. To pull up easily the ends of the tubular segments, the support elements in one section of the conveying zone form an obtuse angle in the shape of a peaked roof behind the mechanisms for pre-opening. In this section at least one roll is positioned in such a manner at the support elements that the leading tubular edge strikes the roll.

  • Patent number: 5961721
Abstract: An adhesive application device is provided with suspended and free floating adhesive rollers positioned on a support plate. The rollers form an adhesive chamber with a housing placed against them. The support plate is positioned in the machine frame, laterally from the adhesive rollers, so that it can be swung around a vertical shaft. The support plate is provided with support pieces, upon which the housing is attached in a removable manner, so that good accessibility is provided and so that the adhesive application device can be maintained properly and cleaned quickly in a simple manner.

  • Patent number: 5871434
Abstract: A device for stiffening workpieces of paper includes elements that provide the workpieces with an undulated profile. The elements may be in the form of freely rotatable disks or belts that revolve around freely rotatable rollers. Respective sections of the disks or belts which come in contact with the workpieces extend through a common central plane in such a way that they provide the workpieces with an undulated profile. In order to prevent the profiling elements from laterally displacing the workpieces, a conveyor is provided which clamps the workpieces between respective conveyor sections.

  • Patent number: 5647524
Abstract: A tearing-off roller pair, for tearing off sections or strips divided by perforation cuts from a material web, consists of a first roller with a substantially smooth steel shell and, applied against it, a second roller with a resilient body set into it for increasing the contact pressure, which resilient body projects above its peripheral surface in its unstressed state. To allow a greater retaining force to be exerted on the sections to be torn off, several of the resilient bodies are set in a recess along a cylindrical surface of the second roller.

  • Patent number: 5549539
Abstract: A device for grooving continuously-fed flat workpieces to form fold lines, including a slotted disc with a circumferential groove into which groove the circular edge of a grooving disc penetrates, which together with the slotted disc constitutes the grooving tool. A clamp rollers which runs off of a cylindrical section of the slotted disc prevents the free outer areas of the workpiece from being pulled into the operating grooving tool. In order to decrease structural expenditure, the clamp roller includes a cylindrical disc adjoining the grooving disc which rotates at the same rate of revolutions as the grooving disc.

  • Patent number: 5312032
Abstract: The invention concerns a bag machine for attachment of strip sections or labels to a passing bag base, including an application drum with a gripper which can be actuated to open and close, and with a knife interacting with the gripper. In this bag machine, the knife is arranged on a second drum running parallel to the application drum. The second drum also features a gripper which interacts with a knife arranged on the application drum.

  • Patent number: 4984728
Abstract: In a dual belt conveyor for multi-ply continuous paper tubing having upper and lower endless conveyor belts between which the tubing is fed, turning point pulleys and backing rollers for the respective conveyor belts are longitudinally offset so that the tubing is moved through the conveyor along an undulating path. The inlet turning point pulley for the upper conveyor belt is positioned in front of the equivalent pulley for the lower conveyor belt so that the upper belt will contact the incoming tubing before the lower belt. A brake plate is provided under the inlet pulley of the upper belt over which plate the tubing is fed. The arrangement avoids the formation of undesirable waves and wrinkles in the tubing.

  • Patent number: 4610654
Abstract: This invention relates to a structure for guiding tubular blanks through a sack end forming station through which the tubular blanks are transversely conveyed on a path of travel, said structure comprising two plates, which are disposed on opposite sides of said path of travel, and guiding surfaces associated with said plates and defining adjacent to said path of travel a gap which has a width that is at least as large as the thickness of the tubular blank. At least one of said guiding surfaces is formed by a bar, which is associated with one of said plates and capable of a limited movement in the plane of said plate and is urged toward the other plate by springs.
