Publication number: 20230184204Abstract: The energy transition involves the electrical power supply being almost completely covered by renewable energy sources such as solar plants or wind turbines. However, due to their naturally fluctuating output, these energy sources require the use of large energy storage systems, the realization of which still represents a major problem today. The present invention relates to supporting the construction of a large-scale pumped-storage power plant, e.g., in the Hambach open-pit mine, by enabling test operation as well as energy generation as early as during the construction phase.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2019Publication date: June 15, 2023Inventors: Horst Schmidt-Böcking, Gerhard Luther

Publication number: 20220364539Abstract: The energy transition involves the electrical power supply being almost completely covered by renewable energy sources such as solar plants or wind turbines. However, due to their naturally fluctuating output, these energy sources require the use of large energy storage systems, the realization of which still represents a major problem today. The present invention provides a solution which aims to secure the entire short-term storage capacity needed for the energy transition in Germany (and even Europe). For this purpose, in particular, the invention proposes the construction of a large-scale pumped-storage power plant in the Hambach open-pit mine, as a result of which the can mine be put to subsequent use in a sustainable way. The invention also relates to the construction and partial commissioning of the plant in parallel with the use that is being phased out, in particular that of lignite mining (by 2038). This is to avoid the loss of a significant number of existing jobs.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 6, 2020Publication date: November 17, 2022Inventors: Horst Schmidt-Böcking, Gerhard Luther

Patent number: 9997425Abstract: An integrated circuit includes stacked benzocyclobutene layers and a circuit geometry comprising conductive electric traces and interconnects on and/or extending through the BCB layers. A first said BCB layer formed and partially cured state. A top surface masked with photoresist, and after exposure, etched selectively form through vias at locations corresponding to conductive interconnects of the circuit geometry associated with said first BCB layer. A further mask coating is applied and after exposure, conductive metal is deposited to infill vias and form the electric traces of the circuit geometry. Subsequent BCB layers are then likewise formed, etched masked and coated in the same manner.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 2016Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Inventors: Sazzadur Chowdhury, Horst Schmidt

Patent number: 7344670Abstract: A method of producing a molded article includes the steps of positioning an insert within a first mold, and filling the first mold with a low melt allow to form a lost core assembly. The lost core assembly includes an external shape corresponding to the desired cavity formed within the molded article. The inserts are supported within the lost core and form a part of the surface of the cavity of the completed molded article. The lost core assembly is over-molded with a thermoplastic or thermoset material. The alloy material is removed leaving the inserts within the molded article to form specific portions of the cavity.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2003Date of Patent: March 18, 2008Assignee: Build A Mold LimitedInventor: Horst Schmidt

Patent number: 7108299Abstract: A latch (1) for a top of a vehicle comprises a latching hook (3) which is disposed in a guide plate (10), preferably having a U-shaped cross-section, to be movable from a closed position into an open position on a defined path (41) via guiding means (bolt 8, pin 9). A geared motor (4) is provided for pivoting a actuation lever (15) which is connected to the latching hook (3). The connection between the latching hook (3) and the actuation lever (15) is realized through several levers (11, 12, 13) which are connected to each other in an hinged fashion. The motor-driven latch for a top with compact space-saving structure, has a latching hook with a larger radius of motion to increase the separation from the windscreen frame in the open position.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 2004Date of Patent: September 19, 2006Assignee: Beatrix GrossInventors: Bodo Homann, Horst Schmidt, Markus Kuestner, Thomas Schneider

Patent number: 7094376Abstract: A carrier assembly controls movement of a movable member within a mold tool to first receive a quantity of molten material, and then displace that molten material back into a mold cavity during solidification of a molded article. The moveable member moves relative to the surface of the mold cavity to compensate for local volume changes in a molded part that occur during solidification to substantially eliminate depressions and sink marks on an outer surface of a plastic injection molded part.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2003Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Build A Mold LimitedInventor: Horst Schmidt

Patent number: 7011777Abstract: A mold tool includes upper and lower sections defining a cavity within which a plastic film preform is placed before injection of plastic forming a molded article. The plastic film extends between an interface defined between the sections of the mold. The interface secures a position of the plastic film within the mold tool preventing movement during injection of plastic. The interface is specifically configured to secure the plastic film without damage. The specific configuration of the interface is determined according to a relationship between molding process parameters and physical characteristics of the plastic film.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2002Date of Patent: March 14, 2006Assignee: Build a Mold LimitedInventor: Horst Schmidt
