    Abstract: A side sill of a body of a motor vehicle of sheet metal shell construction is composed of a sheet metal outer shell and a sheet metal inner shell which are welded to one another. A rolled profile for stiffening can be inserted into the side sill from an open end side and can be fastened to the side sill. In this way, a side sill can be stiffened by assembling the rolled profile after the basic construction of the body of the motor vehicle.
