Abstract: The invention relates to the use of an absorption liquid for purifying gases from gaseous acidic contaminants, the absorption liquid comprising A) 0.1 to 100% by weight of one or more amines of the formula I where R1 is H, C1-C6-alkyl, an aromatic radical having 6 to 18 carbon atoms or a radical of the formula 2 R2 is H, C1-C6-alkyl, an aromatic radical having 6 to 18 carbon atoms or a radical of the formula 3 R3 is C1-C6-alkyl or an aromatic radical having 6 to 18 carbon atoms R4 is H or CH3 R5 is H or CH3 x is a number from 0 to 3 y is a number from 0 to 3 z is an integer between 1 and 30, and also, if appropriate, B) 0 to 99.9% by weight of water, and/or C) 0 to 99.9% by weight of any desired solvent.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use of an absorption liquid for purifying a gas by removal of gaseous, acidic impurities. The gas to be purified can be any gas, such as synthesis gas or natural gas, which contains gaseous, acidic impurities such as CO2, H2S, SO2, CS2, HCN, COS or mercaptans. The absorption liquid comprises: A) from 0.01 to 4% by weight of at least one compound of the formula B) from 0.001 to 8.0% by weight of water, and C) at least one polyalkylene glycol alkyl ether of the formula R1—O—(R2—O)x—R3 to 100% by weight, where R1 is C1-C4-alkyl, R2 is ethylene or 2-methylethylene, R3 is hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R4 is hydrogen or C1-C4-alkyl, R5 is C1-C4-alkylene and X is an integer from 1 to 10. The amine may be N-methyldiethanolamine and the ether may be polyethylene glycol dimethyl ether.

Abstract: A process for the removal of polar and nonpolar solvents from a gas stream by contacting the gas stream with an absorption liquid in order to absorb the solvents from the gas stream is described, in which the glycol di-n-butyl ethers of the formula below ##STR1## in which R is H or CH.sub.3, and x is 1 to 8 are used as absorption liquid.

Abstract: 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethanols of the formula R.sub.f CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OH are obtained from 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethyl iodides of the formula R.sub.f CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 I as a mixture with 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethylenes of the formula R.sub.f CH.dbd.CH.sub.2 and possibly also with 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethylcarboxylic acid esters of the formula R.sub.f CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OCOR. From these mixtures, the 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethanols are obtained with a high purity degree when adding during the distillation separation as entrainer an alkanol having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms or a monoalkyl ether of ethyleneglycol the alkyl radical of which contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a mixture of such alkanols and/or alkylglycols, and in the presence of 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethylcarboxylic acid esters, furthermore an acidic ester interchange catalyst.

Abstract: 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethanols of the formulaR.sub.f CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OHin which R.sub.f is a perfluoroalkyl radical having from 1 to 21 carbon atoms, are prepared in an advantageous manner from the corresponding 2-(perfluoroalkyl)-ethyl iodides by reaction with water and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, thus reducing formation of by-products.
