  • Patent number: 5192012
Abstract: A nail driving tool is disclosed as including a magazine (9) which, in turn, includes a guide path (7) for guiding a plurality of nails (10.sub.1, 10.sub.2, 10.sub.3. . . ) which are preferably disposed in the form of a nail strip. The guide path (7) is open at an outlet opening (2) from or through which a first or leading nail (10.sub.1) is conveyed into a discharge channel (3). A driving mechanism, such as, for example, a pneumatic driver (11) is disposed within the discharge channel (3) for driving or discharging the leading nail (10.sub.1) from or through the discharge channel (3). A cantilevered leaf spring (8) has one end thereof fixedly mounted upon the magazine (9) while the opposite free end thereof engages the second nail (10.sub.2) disposed immediately upstream of the leading nail (10.sub.1) so as to retain all of the nails disposed upstream of the leading nail (10.sub.1) while the leading nail (10.sub.

  • Patent number: 5038993
Abstract: The present invention comprises a nail driving device with a magazine for nails held together in nail strips, with a nail transport device, wherein the nail strips are pressed in the direction of a fixed stop surface by means of a spring element, and moved in the direction of the exit channel of the device mouthpiece.

  • Patent number: 5025971
Abstract: An annular cushioning buffer (1) is fabricated from an elastic material, such as, for example, polyurethane, for use in connection with fastener-driving tools for impact load distribution and energy absorption purposes. The buffer (1) includes an axially central passage (2) having an axis (M), as well as a plurality of axially extending holes (3) equiangularly spaced about the annular buffer (1) along a circular locus thereof. Radially extending slots (6) extend toward and open onto or pierce inner and outer peripheral or circumferential surfaces (4,5) of the buffer (1) in an alternative fashion so as to uniformly distribute the load impressed upon the buffer (1) by means of the striking piston of the fastener-driving tool.

  • Patent number: 4380313
Abstract: An air-powered driving tool for returning the working piston to its driving position by way of an auxiliary piston and valve arrangement. After the fastener is driven, the auxiliary piston is operated to engage the working piston to move it to its driving position after which the auxiliary piston is moved to an inoperative position. A valve is operated to direct high-pressure air to the auxiliary piston to move it to a working piston engaging position and then the air is released to allow it to return to its inoperative position. Thus, there is no force opposing the working piston when the driving tool is operated to drive a fastener into a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4227591
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel outlet air muffler for air-powered transportable driving tools such as nailers. The muffler includes an outlet air duct formed in a housing endpiece and the top lid of the nailer. The outlet air duct is made up of two like chamber systems whose chambers are joined together by wall hollows. The chambers are furthermore interconnected through holes leading from the outlet side of the main control valve.

  • Patent number: 4206687
Abstract: The invention relates to a cushioning device for a piston of a pneumatically operable driving tool which includes a cylinder, wherein a drive piston connected to a driver blade is axially movable; including further a bumper at the lower end of the cylinder and an annular chamber connected to a fluid power reservoir; this chamber is located underneath the piston and is surrounding the driver blade. The annular chamber, created by the piston and a wall, generally parallel to the face of the piston, will be reduced in volume to a certain extent when the wall impacts on the bumper to reduce the noise generated during the driving action.
