The housing includes a support wall, an end wall disposed opposite the support wall, and a top wall disposed opposite the longitudinal slot and connecting the support wall and the end wall. The support wall, the end wall and the top wall define an inner chamber for accommodating the slide member. The support wall has a first height, and the end wall has a second height which is less than the first height.

The door closing mechanism controls the closing sequence of a leading panel and a trailing panel, such that a trailing panel is locked in an open position prior to the closing of a leading panel. A locking mechanism, for locking and unlocking the trailing panel, includes a pivoting member which interacts, inter alia, with a sliding block and release member, for pivotally locking and unlocking a locking device. This locking mechanism pivots the pivoting lever into a locking position for preventing the closure of a trailing panel in advance of a leading panel upon a leading panel moving from a closed position to an open position. Abstract: An automatic door closer comprises a closer shaft connected to a door for turning therewith and being turnably mounted in the region of one end of an elongated fluid-filled housing. A cam disk fixed to the closer shaft cooperates over rollers carried by a slide to move the latter and a piston rod fixed thereto during opening movement of the door in a first direction. A first piston arranged in the housing divides the latter into a first and a second pressure space and is connected to the piston rod passing through a bore in the first piston for moving therewith in the first direction to thereby reduce the volume of the first pressure space while increasing the volume of the second pressure space. A coiled compression spring arranged about the piston rod biases the first piston to move in a second direction opposite said first direction. A second piston fixed to the free end of the piston rod projects beyond the first piston into a cylinder space formed in a plug closing the other end of the housing.
