  • Patent number: 6116279
Abstract: A valve cartridge has a hollow housing having an open end, a floor plate closing the open end and formed with a plurality of throughgoing ports each having an inner surface, a valve plate in the housing fixed atop the floor plate and formed with holes aligned with the floor-plate ports, a movable valve plate in the housing atop the fixed valve plate and formed with a cavity, and an actuating element connected to the movable valve plate for displacing the movable valve plate on the fixed plate and shifting the cavity into and out of engagement with the fixed-plate holes so that if one of the holes is supplied with water under pressure the actuating element can control flow from the one hole to the other hole. Respective annular seal rings made of an elastomeric plastic are received in the ports, formed in situ in the ports, and have outer surfaces bonded to the inner surfaces of the respective ports. The floor plate is made of a material that can bond to and slide relative to the plastic of the seal rings.

  • Patent number: 5060692
Abstract: A seal ring is used in combination with a pair of substantially planar, confronting, and substantially parallel faces one of which is formed with an annular groove surrounding a pressurizable chamber and having inner and outer flanks extending transverse to the respective plate face. These faces are relatively slidable and can be formed on a valve plate and a control plate of a single-control valve. The ring is formed with an outer edge normally engaging outward against the outer flank of the groove, an inwardly projecting ridge defining an inner edge normally engaging inward against the inner flank of the groove, and a pair of lips flanking the ridge and each defining therewith an inwardly open groove. Each lip has an outer end lying outward of the inner edge and inward of the outer edge.

  • Patent number: 4997005
Abstract: A mixing valve comprises a housing centered on a housing axis, a base plate formed with an outlet port bisected by a symmetry plane including the housing axis and a pair of arcuate inlet ports offset from the outlet port and symmetrically flanking the plane. The ports open on the base plate at a planar front surface perpendicular to the axis and plane. A control plate has a back surface lying on the base-plate front surface and is formed with a cavity opening at the back surface at a rim. A lever is mounted on the housing and control plate for moving the control plate parallel to the symmetry plane from a closed position with the cavity over the outlet but not over either of the inlets to an open position with the cavity over the outlet port and at least one of the inlet ports and transverse to the symmetry plane to vary the coverage of the inlet ports while still being over the outlet port.

  • Patent number: 4995419
Abstract: A single-control mixing valve comprises a housing generally centered on an axis and having an open end, a base plate closing the open end, formed with inlet and outlet passages, and formed around the passages with grooves, respective seals seated in the grooves, a control plate formed with a crossflow cavity and displaceable in the housing to interconnect the passages of the base plate, and a lever pivoted on the control plate for displacing same. The base plate is secured in the housing for only limited axial movement therein by inwardly deflectable barbs and formations pinch the seals in the grooves so that the valve is a self-contained units whose parts cannot become accidentally separted before it is installed.

  • Patent number: 4971113
Abstract: A mixing-valve assembly has a hollow housing, a valve plate in the housing formed with hot- and cold-water inlet ports and an outlet port, a control plate slidable on the valve plate and formed with a mixing cavity alignable with the ports, and a lever assembly pivoted on the control plate for sliding the control plate on the valve plate and thereby bringing the cavity into registration with the ports for water flow therebetween. An adapter disk fitted in the housing is formed with a recessed seat in which the valve plate is snugly engaged and with respective passages communicating with the valve-plate ports. The adapter disk is secured in the housing to fix the valve plate therein.

  • Patent number: 4921016
Abstract: A water mixing valve has an axially shiftable bottom pressed by water pressure against the valve seat disk in a housing for the assembly which allows the assembly to be inserted as a unit into the valve. The openings in the bottom have constrictions against which tubular seals press to provide the axial force which prevents a gap from forming between the bottom and the valve seat disk.
