Patent number: 6732601Abstract: A control apparatus of an automated manual transmission includes an input shaft provided with a plurality of drive gears, an output shaft provided with a plurality of driven gears engaged with the drive gears, and a reverse idler gear engaging with gears for backward movement respectively provided at the input and output sides when a backward moving stage is selected, as a mechanism for backward moving. Further, there is provided with a bypass clutch capable of selectively transmitting or shutting a power of the input shaft to the output shaft. When the backward moving stage is selected (S1), the bypass clutch is engaged (S3) so as to stop a rotation of the input shaft (S4), and thereafter, the reverse idler gear and the backward moving gears are engaged with each other (S5). Thus, a shift operation to a reverse mode can be securely and smoothly executed for a short time.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2001Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki

A lockup clutch switched to an engaged or disengaged state with respect to the front cover includes a torsion damper provided between an upstream side plate fixed to the lockup clutch and a downstream side plate, in which a clutch drum is provided with an inertial mass at a downstream side of the torsion damper. Thereby, low-frequency sounds or vibrations in the power transmitting apparatus can be reduced.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2001Date of Patent: November 18, 2003Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki

Patent number: 6551213Abstract: A control apparatus of a vehicular automated manual transmission includes an input shaft provided with a plurality of drive gears, and an output shaft provided with a plurality of driven gears engaging with the drive gears, in which the drive gears and the driven gears form a plurality of transmission gear trains through engaging with each other. When down-shifting among the transmission gear trains, an engine speed Ne is set higher by a predetermined value &agr; than an input shaft rotational speed Nm. Thereby, the drag torque of the wet clutch works in such a manner that the input shaft rotational speed is increased, so that the difference of rotational speed between the input shaft and the output shaft becomes small. Accordingly, a transmission characteristic of the vehicular automated manual transmission with wet multi-disc type clutch can be improved.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2001Date of Patent: April 22, 2003Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki

Patent number: 6546826Abstract: A control apparatus of an automated manual transmission has an input shaft provided with a plurality of drive gears, an output shaft provided with a plurality of driven gears engaged with the drive gears, and actuators for switching a transmission gear train to transmit a power from the input shaft to the output shaft. A hydraulic pressure system is provided with a control valve for regulating hydraulic pressure supplied to actuators, and an accumulator for saving working fluid and storing pressure energy. An electronic control unit determines that there occurs a trouble in the hydraulic pressure system when a rising rate of hydraulic pressure is lower than a predetermined value (S2, S3). Then, the electronic control unit switches a transmission gear train to the lowest speed gear range within a scope of no over-revolution of an engine through using pressure energy stored in the accumulator (S7, S8).Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2001Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki

Patent number: 6514173Abstract: An automatic transmission system has a switching mechanism for switching a plurality of shift gears and a sub-clutch by which transfer torque is controlled while being transferred from an input shaft to an output shaft. An actual deceleration speed is calculated based on an engine speed. Calculated next, based on an engine torque, is a target deceleration speed at which an output torque generated during upshifting is almost equal to an output torque generated after the upshifting. The transfer torque is controlled by feedback control so that the actual deceleration speed reaches the target deceleration speed.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2001Date of Patent: February 4, 2003Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki

Patent number: 6270439Abstract: Hydraulic pressure regulated by a first pressure control valve is supplied to an electromagnetic changeover valve. The electromagnetic changeover valve changes over the hydraulic pressure between a low & reverse passage communicating with a low & reverse brake and a high clutch passage communicating with a high clutch, thereby a simultaneous engagement of the low & reverse brake and the high clutch can be avoided and further the simplification of the hydraulic control apparatus of an automatic transmission can be realized.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2000Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki

Patent number: 5643137Abstract: A lockup control apparatus and method of an automatic transmission engages a lockup clutch smoothly by gradually varying an electrical signal and holds a lockup pressure at a level corresponding to the engine load when the lockup clutch is engaged. The engagement of the lockup clutch is detected by comparing an engine rotational speed with a turbine rotational speed. The lockup pressure is determined at a minimal value enabling the lockup clutch to be engaged with a sufficient margin. Advantages of the lockup control apparatus are that shocks occured when the lockup clutch is engaged or disengaged can be attenuated and the life of the lockup clutch is substantially prolonged.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 1995Date of Patent: July 1, 1997Assignee: Fuji Jukogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hosei Suzuki
