Provided is a communication system that includes a plurality of mobile stations and at least one of a base station and a wireless LAN access point, wherein the plurality of mobile stations establish communication with each other and form an ad hoc network that realizes a mesh network topology, and at least one mobile station among the plurality of mobile stations establishes communication with at least one of the base station and the wireless LAN access point, and connects another mobile station among the plurality of mobile stations to the at least one of the base station and the wireless LAN access point using a tethering function.
