  • Patent number: 5746750
Abstract: A medical instrument is provided for manipulation of the uterus, in particular for laparascopic complete hysterectomy. It comprises a handle at the proximal instrument part and a manipulator probe at the distal instrument part, these being connected to one another via an elongate shank. Furthermore a holding device is arranged at the distal instrument part for fastening the uterus subject to therapy relative to the manipulator probe. In order to prevent the pneomoperitoneum from being destroyed during the operation to remove the uterus, the invention provides for a sealing device in the form of a closed tube insertable into the vagina, in which the shank of the instrument is axially displaceably arranged.

  • Patent number: 5669927
Abstract: The instrument for morcellating, in particular for endosurgical operations, includes a tube with a cutter formed at its distal end which is the actual morcellator, and a gripping instrument introduced into this tube for holding the tissue to be removed. Between the gripping instrument and the cutting tube is provided a protective sheath into which the gripper of the gripping instrument is inserted before the beginning of the cutting procedure. This configuration reliably prevents fouling between the cutting instrument and the gripper.

  • Patent number: 5385568
Abstract: A surgical instrument is provided for manipulating a thread situated within a body, in particular a body cavity. It has a shaft with a handle on the proximal end of the shaft and two thread receivers on the distal end of the shaft. Each thread receiver is formed by an open guide at least partly surrounding the thread and which may consist of wire. The openings of the two thread receivers are arranged facing in opposite directions, so that the thread may be pulled as well as pushed using the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4898157
Abstract: An instrument for holding surgical needles comprises a pair of forceps having forceps jaws at a distal end of the instrument and having a pair of hand grips for operating a movable jaw of the forceps by way of a push and pull rod. The movable jaw is releasably retainable in a closed needle gripping position. The hand grips extend obliquely outwardly in the proximal direction of the instrument and are arranged in mirror image symmetry with respect to the longitudinal axis thereof. The hand grips are actuable in the transverse direction of the longitudinal axis, the forceps jaws, when closed, lying in the direction of that axis. The transverse force exerted on the hand grips is convertable to a longitudinally directed force for actuating the movable jaw, to grip a surgical needle. The instrument can be passed through conventional trocar sleeves.
