  • Patent number: 4948586
Abstract: A microencapsulated insecticidal pathogen for application to vegetation is disclosed. An insecticidal viral, bacterial or fungal pathogen is encapsulated in a polymeric encapsulating agent such as Eudragit L, Eudragit S, Eudragit L or S with Eudragit RL, Eudragit L or S with Eudragit RS, polyacrylates, polyacrylic acids, cyclic acrylate polymer or mixtures thereof. Also encapsulated in the polymeric encapsulating agent is a sunscreening agent such as benzophenone, para amino benzoic acid, benzil, or mixtures thereof. Also disclosed is a process for encapsulating an insecticidal pathogen. The microcapsules of the invention effectively retain sunscreening agent within the capsule and are easily prepared without using toxic materials requiring subsequent removal.

  • Patent number: 4857335
Abstract: Liquid, controlled release formulations are provided by emulisifying an aqueous active ingredient-polymer complex, an organic solution of a film-forming polymer and an organic solvent, and a surfactant to form a first emulsion. An aqueous solution of a surfactant is emulsified with the first emulsion to produce a second emulsion and the organic solvent is subsequently removed to produce a liquid controlled release formulation. The formulation so produced includes an aqueous dispersion of microcapsules having permeable shells of the film-forming polymer and aqueous cores of the aqueous active ingredient-polymer complex.

Also disclosed is a process for encapsulating an insecticidal pathogen. The microcapsules of the invention effectively retain sunscreening agent within the capsule and are easily prepared without using toxic materials requiring subsequent removal.

  • Patent number: 4205060
Abstract: Microcapsules comprising a core containing a water-soluble salt of a medicament and a polymer, e.g., the salt of a medicament containing an amine-group and a carboxyl group containing polymer, and a sheath of a water-insoluble film forming polymer, e.g., ethyl cellulose, the method of their production and their administration are disclosed. The microcapsules can be formed by dispersing an aqueous solution of the medicament-polymer salt in a water-immiscible solvent solution of a water-insoluble film forming polymer, adding another water-immiscible solvent which is a non-solvent for the water-insoluble polymer, and collected the microcapsules. The microcapsules are administered orally to animals and exhibit substantially slower release rates and more uniform release rates in stomach acids than the corresponding unencapsulated salts or encapsulated non-polymeric salts.
