  • Patent number: 4655077
Abstract: A wear sensor system for detecting erosion, corrosion and wear of a component is disclosed. Conductive loops of a sensor probes are embedded at spaced locations through the component. As erosion, corrosion or wear of the component is sustained, each conductive loop is subjected to such wear condition in turn and is interrupted only as the component is worn away at its particular location. The continuity status of each loop is evaluated periodically, with an electrical closed circuit condition indicating structural integrity at that particular loop location, and an electrical open circuit condition indicating such a wear condition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 31, 1985
Date of Patent: April 7, 1987
Inventors: Howard A. Purvis, Robert F. Stricker
  • Patent number: 4612955
Abstract: An edge wear tab for high temperature valve components, such valve components having an upstream face and a downstream face. The edge wear tab of the present invention has an increased mounting area for enhanced ease in mounting the tab body with the valve and for increased anchoring of refractory or composite material with the valve component. Further, the edge wear tab of the present invention enhances valve component strength by increasing localized compressive forces in such refractory or composite materials in the area adjacent to such tab body.

  • Patent number: 3976094
Abstract: A guided slide valve having wear-prone internals which can be removed through the bonnet opening and which can operate in high pressure, high temperature erosive solid or fluid flow systems is disclosed which includes a body having a flow passage through it, a large internal portion closed by a removable bonnet or cover, a body portion projecting into the enlarged internal portion, preferably a cone suspended in non-external load-bearing relation with the body, the projecting portion having sides spaced from internal walls of the enlarged internal portion, a valve surface or orifice disposed on the projected body portion, preferably releasably secured, and a slide valve slideable in the enlarged internal portion adjacent the valve surface having transversely spaced side members which extend around the sides of the projecting body portion.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 13, 1975
Date of Patent: August 24, 1976

  • Patent number: 3964507
Abstract: A slide valve with integrated removable internals which can operate with fully reversing pressures in a high pressure, high temperature, erosive solid or fluid flow system is disclosed which includes a body having a flow passage through it including a large internal portion, a body portion projecting into the enlarged internal portion, preferably a cone suspended in non-external load bearing relation with the body, a valve surface or orifice plate releasably secured on the projecting body portion, and a slide valve slideable in the enlarged internal portion adjacent the valve surface having side portions extending transversely of the direct flow passage in the enlarged internal portion. Traversely spaced guides are disposed in the enlarged internal portion, either releasably secured to the valve surface or formed integrally with the valve surface which are in the form of side members.
