Patent number: 12290949Abstract: A hand-held safety cutting device that facilitates an operator cutting a material without having to tilt the cutting device while cutting and minimizing the operator exposure to the cutting blade pivotally connected therein. The device includes a biased safety slide which must first be placed in an enabling state before the operator can depress a biased activator to pivotally-extend a portion of the blade out of the housing bottom to permit cutting or scoring the material. The blade is releasably installed in a blade holder that is pivotally-biased. The operator must maintain pressure on the activator during cutting/scoring. Once pressure is released on the activator, the blade immediately pivots into the housing and the safety slide moves to a disabling state, preventing any depression of the activator. A cover provides access to install different razor blade types. Another embodiment includes a storage that permits additional blades and blade holders to be stored therein.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2022Date of Patent: May 6, 2025Inventor: Howard Abrams

Patent number: 10275588Abstract: A method performed by a processor of a first electronic device includes transmitting first authentication information through a Body Area Network (BAN) interface circuit that communicates with a second electronic device using electrical signals conducted through electrodes contacting a body of a user extending between the first and second electronic devices. Second authentication information is received through a radiofrequency transceiver circuit that communicates via an antenna through an air-interface with the second electronic device. A command to control an operation of the second electronic device is communicated responsive to determining that a combination of the first authentication information and the second authentication information satisfies an authentication rule.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2016Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventor: Howard Abrams

Patent number: 10268837Abstract: Techniques are disclosed relating to generating and validating a container for an application. A container for an application may an executable package that include the source code for the application along with the runtime information, system tools, system libraries, and settings for the application. A container validation procedure is determined for the container using a plurality of container validation routines. The container validation routines may reflect the role various validation entities have in validating the container and approving it for deployment. If the container successfully passes the container validation procedure, the container may be deployed on a computer system. In some computer systems, a server computer system and remote, client computer system work together to validate the container without the client computer system having to send any private client information to the server computer system.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2017Date of Patent: April 23, 2019Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventors: Ankur Agarwal, Prabhu Inbarajan, Hyunji Kim, Howard Abrams, Natasha Festa

Publication number: 20180114279Abstract: Articles are identified as potential candidates for inclusion in a newsletter generated for a user. The articles may be identified based on popularity or based on social activities (likes, comments, sharing, etc.) of social connections of the user. The user selects one or more articles for inclusion in the newsletter. The one or more articles may then be parsed and formatted for inclusion in the newsletter. Additional content such as comments and a promotional message may also be added to the newsletter. The newsletter may then be distributed to subscribers, such as by means of email, FACEBOOK MESSENGER or some other messaging system.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2017Publication date: April 26, 2018Inventors: Jonathan Howard Abrams, Kent Joseph Lindstrom, Ross Ainsley MacKinnon, Jose Montes de Oca, Jari-lee Lactao Tolentino, Francisco Javier Vegas

Patent number: 9910487Abstract: A current task flow path of a user is identified based on task flow nodes of the current task flow path, and a data context of the task flow nodes. The task flow nodes may include actions performed by the user with one or more software applications. A suggestion point of the current task flow path is detected. The suggestion point may be detected based upon a user action indicating that the user needs assistance to proceed with the current task flow path. A candidate task flow node is selected responsive to a comparison of the current task flow path to historical task flows. A suggestion is displayed to the user based on the candidate task flow node.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2013Date of Patent: March 6, 2018Assignee: CA, Inc.Inventors: Howard Abrams, Debra Danielson, Mark Addleman

Publication number: 20050139733Abstract: A rigid refuse bag liner for insertion into a yard refuse bag for supporting the yard refuse bag in an open condition. The rigid yard refuse bag liner is an elongated enclosure having an open bottom and having a tapered construction such that its bottom portion is wider than its top portion, which facilitates the removal of the rigid liner once the refuse bag liner/refuse bag are filled with yard refuse. To further facilitate this removal, air vents running through the enclosure permit the passage of air as the rigid liner is lifted upward, out of the yard bag. A compactor is associated with the rigid liner whereby the compactor is a planar surface coupled to a handle that the user can grasp and apply pressure to in order to compact the yard refuse that has already been collected. The rigid refuse bag liner can be inserted into a yard refuse bag and that combination can then be used on a bagger attachment device coupled to a riding lawn mower for automatically collecting grass cuttings therein.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 28, 2005Publication date: June 30, 2005Inventor: Howard Abrams

Publication number: 20020099770Abstract: A method, software program and computer network allow multiple users to communicate in a shared virtual environment while efficiently using available data transmission capabilities for providing to each user efficient communications access to interesting entities such as other users and generalized information. The network preferably includes a host interactivity server and multiple client computers. The method includes establishing a connection and a context between the server and each client computer and negotiating an interest expression of a client based on information relating to a subject user, and based on available bandwidth and network traffic. Transmission is, based the interest expression, then permitted to the client of interesting entities, while uninteresting entities are filtered.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2001Publication date: July 25, 2002Applicant: Muse CorporationInventors: Jonathan Lindo, Howard Abrams

Publication number: 20020099858Abstract: A network communications protocol program includes an active protocol stack and an inactive protocol stack, wherein a component from the inactive stack may be called into the active stack when a particular data communications type is detected. The component may be deactivated when the particular data communications type is finished. The program preferably includes socket layer, channel layer and message handling layer components for permitting and extracting communications over a network. The socket layer component receives data from a sender over a network, and defragments and reassembles the data for multiplexing and distributing data portions into multiple channels according to the data formats the data portions resemble. The channel layer component includes channels arranged according to the multiple data formats. The channel layer receives the data portions processed by the socket layer and multiplexes and distributes new data portions according to which of multiple APIs the data is directed to.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 6, 2001Publication date: July 25, 2002Applicant: Muse CorporationInventors: Jonathan Lindo, Mark Barnes, Howard Abrams
