Patent number: 8825865Abstract: A system and methodology for network planning in which a software based tool provides network engineers with the capability to more precisely plan for traffic loading within the network on a cell site by cell site basis. Thus for each cell site, variations in geographic location, device mix, historical usage patterns and other factors are taken into account to allow for more accurate network planning and for more efficient use of capital. Cell sites with a higher traffic profile based upon historic device mix and usage patterns will be associated with lower OSF values thus enhancing the user experience for a device user in communication with that cell site. On the other hand, for cell sites with a lesser traffic profile, a higher OSF value is ascribed thus allowing for capital to be deployed elsewhere while still maintaining a positive user experience for users relying on that cell site.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2012Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Clearwire IP Holdings LLCInventors: Howard Anderson, Hemanth Pawar, Hetal Mistry

Patent number: 8578113Abstract: A method for managing extents in a data storage system includes monitoring usage statistics for an extent residing on one or more powered-up storage devices. In the event the extent has not been accessed for specified period of time (as determined from the usage statistics), the method automatically compresses the extent and migrates the extent to an intermediate repository. Once the amount of data in the intermediate repository reaches a specified level, the method migrates the extent from the intermediate repository to one or more normally powered-down storage devices. If I/O is received for the extent while it resides in the normally powered-down storage devices or the intermediate repository, the method automatically migrates the extent from the normally powered-down storage devices or the intermediate repository to the normally powered-up storage devices. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: April 16, 2012Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Dale Howard Anderson, Philip Matthew Doatmas, Michael Robert Groseclose, Paul Anthony Jennas, Larry Juarez, Brian Sean McCain, David Montgomery, Jason Lee Peipelman, Joshua Marshall Rhoades, Todd Charles Sorenson

Patent number: 8357214Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for generating a gas. One or more liquid permeable pouches each define a cavity that contains a solid anhydrous reactant, such as a chemical hydride. A reaction chamber made of a heat, chemical and/or pressure resistant material receives the one or more pouches from a pouch feeder that transfers the one or more pouches into the reaction chamber successively at a feed rate. One or more liquid sources inject a liquid reactant into the reaction chamber so that the liquid reactant contacts a portion of the one or more pouches. The one or more liquid sources inject the liquid reactant at an injection rate that corresponds to the feed rate. A gas outlet releases a gas, such as hydrogen, oxygen, ammonia, borazine, nitrogen, or a hydrocarbon, that is produced by a reaction between the solid reactant and the liquid reactant.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2009Date of Patent: January 22, 2013Assignee: Trulite, Inc.Inventors: John Madison Patton, Howard Anderson

Patent number: 5550503Abstract: A circuit and method for reducing voltage error when charging and discharging a storage capacitor (44) through a transmission gate (43). The storage capacitor (44) stores or holds a voltage coupled through the transmission gate (43) when the transmission gate (43) is disabled. The circuit comprises a clock generation circuit (47) providing complementary clock signals for enabling and disabling the transmission gate (43) and a charge negating transmission gate (46). The clock generation circuit (47) provides the complementary clock signals simultaneously to the transmission gates (43, 46). Alternate paths for dissipating channel charge of the transistors which comprise the transmission gate (43) are not formed by providing the complementary clock signals simultaneously. The channel charge is then canceled by the charge negating transmission gate (46) reducing voltage error on the storage capacitor (44).Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1995Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Motorola, Inc.Inventors: Doug Garrity, David Anderson, Howard Anderson, Brad Gunter, Danny Bersch

Patent number: 4953340Abstract: The rod-support chair of the present invention comprises a plastic channel made of a thermoplastic resin preferably selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate, aromatic polyester carbonate and aromatic polyesters. The channel is further characterized in that its physical dimensions and material properties permit its elastic and bending across its long dimension around at least part of the circumferential cross-section of a reinforcing rod and provide support for the rod for a period which is necessary for the concrete to set. The channel in its "in use" configuration is left in the cured, or set concrete and does not interfere with the setting process nor does it contribute to rust formation.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 1989Date of Patent: September 4, 1990Assignee: Mobay CorporationInventor: Howard A. Patent number: 4749538Abstract: The present application is concerned with an extrusion process for an elongated stiff but bendable plastic article which finds particular utility in highway delineators. The article has a central lens shape in the cross-section perpendicular to its major axis which is formed by joining two sheets along both of their longitudinal edges. The sheets both have parallel longitudinal edges and are configured in an arc in their shorter dimension. A reverse radius is provided in each longitudinal edge just before it joins the similar edge of the other sheet to allow the article to be bent 90.degree. across its major axis in the plane of its minor axis without significant plastic deformation. The article is constructed by pressing the cooled edges of thermoplastic sheets that can sustain substantial elastic deformation.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1986Date of Patent: June 7, 1988Assignee: Mobay CorporationInventor: Howard A.
