Patent number: 7950722Abstract: A method for constructing a wall structure for a bulk commodity carrying truck body or trailer is defined. The method includes arranging a plurality extruded aluminum panels to define a wall structure, wherein each of the plurality of panels includes a flat inner wall, an outer wall spaced-apart from the inner wall, and first and second end walls that extend between and interconnect the inner and outer walls. The arranging step includes locating the panels in a series with first and second end walls of adjacent panels abutted with each other and defining a seam. The method further includes fixedly securing the adjacent panels together by welding the seam and arranging the wall structure as part of the bulk commodity carrying truck body or trailer with each seam extending vertically. A wall structure and panel for same are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2007Date of Patent: May 31, 2011Assignee: East Manufacturing CorporationInventor: Howard Booher

Publication number: 20080001430Abstract: A load-carrying floor for a truck or trailer includes a plurality of extruded aluminum hollow floor panels wherein each panel includes spaced apart inside and outside walls connected to each other by spaced apart first and second end walls. A primary cross-member is located between and extends parallel to the first and second end walls and interconnects the inside and outside walls. The panels are abutted with each other to define a floor section including: (i) an inner load-carrying surface; (ii) an outer surface; (iii) a plurality of seams; and, (iv) opposite left and right edge regions. One-piece extruded aluminum left and right rails are connected by welding to the left and right edge regions of the floor section, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2007Publication date: January 3, 2008Inventor: Howard Booher

Publication number: 20070102960Abstract: A trailer body includes left and right bottom rails and left and right top rails all parallel to each other. A floor extends between the left and right bottom rails. A left vertical sidewall is defined between the left bottom rail and the left top rail. A right vertical sidewall is defined between the right bottom rail and the right top rail. The sidewalls are defined by a plurality of abutted extruded wall panels that extend vertically between the respective bottom and top rails. The floor is optionally defined by a plurality of abutted and interconnected one-piece extruded floor panels that extend between the left and right bottom rails. Publication number: 20060088395Abstract: A winch for a cargo restraining strap includes a frame having a base and first and second parallel spaced sidewalls. The first and second sidewalls define respective first and second apertures. A protective wall extends from the base and is spaced from the first sidewall. The first sidewall and the protective wall cooperate to define a clevis structure including a channel. A pawl is movably secured to the frame, with an inner end thereof located in the clevis channel. A spool extends between the first and second sidewalls and is rotatably supported in the first and second apertures of the first and second sidewalls. A ratchet wheel is connected to the spool and is located adjacent the first sidewall. The ratchet wheel is selectively engaged by the pawl. The frame, spool and ratchet wheel can be defined from aluminum alloy. The frame can be extruded as a one-piece construction. The spool and ratchet wheel can be extruded as a one-piece construction.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 11, 2005Publication date: April 27, 2006Inventor: Howard Booher

Patent number: 6174023Abstract: For a truck trailer bed or a truck cargo enclosure including one or more compartmented, hollow floor sections, a reinforcement system is provided. The system makes use of strip-like metal inserts which are introduced into selected compartments of the flooring sections that lie beneath a relatively compact, heavy object such as a coil of flat-rolled steel or like cargo. The inserts preferably will be fabricated from the same metallic substance as the flooring sections and will be of a transverse cross section that is identical to the compartments provided in the flooring sections. Having such a cross section, the inserts will fill the selected flooring section compartments and increase the rigidity and resistance of the compartments to damage caused by the concentrated object loading thereon.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1999Date of Patent: January 16, 2001Assignee: East ManufacturingInventor: Howard Booher
