    Abstract: Apparatus for positioning a block which may be used as a charger for a lathe. The apparatus includes opposed primary chucks, each taking the form of a tapered receptacle for receiving the end of a block. The primary chucks are each displaceable in x and y directions extending laterally of a rotation axis, to position a block in an optimum position for peeling veneer therefrom. A secondary chuck is associated with each primary chuck which extensible to grip a block independently of the primary chuck.

    Abstract: Method of constructing a laminated panel which used veneer pieces of a standard and uniform size. The width of the veneer pieces is a whole number divisor of the length of the pieces. In a panel assembly, the number of veneer pieces in a layer with grain extending across the grain of an adjacent layer is equal to the whole number divisor determining the width of a piece.
