  • Patent number: 6719134
Abstract: A toilet plunger storage device includes a fluid-impervious receptacle to receive an elastomeric suction head portion of a toilet plunger and a cover fitted to the receptacle that receives the handle portion of the plunger. The receptacle includes a conical side wall from which a straight-sided cylindrical portion projects upwardly. The cover has a generally conical member at its lower end and an elongate, hollow, tapered tube that projects from the upper end of the conical member. The upper end of the cylindrical portion and the lower end of the cover are configured to engage each other in bayonet-type telescopic fashion to establish a sealing and locking relationship. A first handle extends from the side of the receptacle and a second handle is disposed at the top of the cover. The device can be formed integrally from a conventional plastics material such as high density polypropylene or polyethylene in a single, inexpensive molding operation.

  • Patent number: 5174022
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for terminating a wire to a terminal having a metal contact that is partially assembled to an insulating housing. The apparatus includes a stop that abuttingly engages a side of the contact within the interior of the housing. A stripper arm automatically moves the crimped and assembled terminal laterally so that it is clear of the stop arm for easy removal. The crimping and assembly operations are performed in a single cycle of the press ram.

  • Patent number: 5170857
Abstract: A dynamic check weighing system wherein the drive motor is positioned within the channel members of the frame and spaced from the ends thereof so as to provide a dynamically balanced system resulting in accurate and consistent weighing. The conveyor belt is of an open mesh type which affords positive engagement by a drive sprocket and positive tracking by a guide sprocket. A direct drive arrangement is employed thus eliminating drive components. There is provided a weighing system which employs fewer parts, thus, reducing maintenance and production costs.

  • Patent number: 5168978
Abstract: A conveyor system having transverse positions for use in conjunction with diverting or sorting and detecting operations. The conveyor system employs elastic strand members which are driven by a drive roller connected to a supporting frame in a transversely fixed manner while the strands are moved transversely by a guide roller positioned at an opposite end of the supporting frame. The conveyor system is especially adaptable to dynamic weighing and counting systems. The conveyor system affords a rapid adjustment for different transverse positions employing a positioning mechanism which is activated by two fluid and preferably pneumatically driven cylinders with activating rods.

  • Patent number: 5115560
Abstract: A machine for inserting terminals (12) into housings (10) on an electrical device (4) comprises an inserting apparatus (34) in combination with a turntable assembly (32). The turntable assembly comprises a main turntable (38) and a plurality of secondary turntables (40) on the main turntable. The secondary turntables (40) are individually rotatable with respect to the main turntable (38) so that an electrical device (4) mounted on a secondary turntable (40) can be reoriented thereby to permit a wide variety of insertion operations to be performed on the device, for example, where the terminals (12) must be inserted into housings (10) arranged in two or more rows. The secondary turntables can be rotated to position each row in alignment with the fixed insertion machine (34).

  • Patent number: 4979291
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for terminating a wire to a terminal having a metal contact that is partially assembled to an insulated housing. The apparatus includes a stop that abuttingly engages bulges in the contact after crimping and thereby prevents axial movement of the contact while sliding the insulated housing thereover. Both the crimping and assembly operations are performed in a single workstation.

  • Patent number: 4970889
Abstract: Crimping machine comprises a press and a terminal applicator. The applicator ram is coupled to the press ram and has movable crimping tooling adjustably mounted thereon. The fixed crimping tooling is mounted in the applicator frame which in turn is supported on the press platen. A coarse adjusting system is provided on the applicator ram for adjusting the position of the movable crimping tooling on the ram and a fine adjusting system is provided in the press platen for adjusting the position of the applicator frame and thereby adjusting the position of the fixed tooling. The fine adjusting system results in the achievement of crimped connections within more narrow tolerance limits than have heretofore been possible.

  • Patent number: 4964200
Abstract: Lead making machine has crimping presses in which the press ram comprises a vertically extending reciprocable rod which is contained in a vertically extending static press frame. The rod and press frame have laterally extending arms between which a terminal applicator is mounted with the applicator frame supported on the arm of the press frame and with the applicator ram coupled to the rod. The stresses developed during a crimping operation are confined to the rod and press frame and are not borne by the housing in which the presses and the actuating mechanism is contained. The presses are vertically adjustable with respect to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4611484
Abstract: A quick change mounting plate for securing an end fed or a side fed electrical terminal applicator, alternatively, to a press for operating the applicator, is provided with latches for locking the base plate of the respective applicator to the mounting plate. Each latch is movable between a raised latching position and a lowered position in which the latch does not interrupt the surface of the mounting plate, upon which surface the respective base plate is to be supported. The latches, one of which is positioned substantially centrally of said surface, are located to engage, in their raised positions, the edes of the base plate of the respective applicator. The latches which are not to be used for this purpose in respect of a particular base plate are kept in their lowered positions so that surface to surface contact between such base plate and the mounting plate can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 4178675
Abstract: Apparatus for installing connectors on the ends of cables comprises first and second reciprocable rams which are coupled to each other by compressible coupling means. Connector deforming tools are mounted on the first ram which inwardly deform portions of the connector thereby to clamp the connector to the cable. Contact insertion tool means are mounted on the second ram and function to push contact members through the connector housing and into the wires of the cable. The arrangement is such that the deforming tools dwell in their lowered position and support the connector housing while the insertion tools drive the contact members through the housing. This arrangement prevents unwanted deformation of the housing while the contact members are being driven therethrough. The apparatus is also provided with improved aligning means which functions to align the connector with the deforming tools and the insertion tools.
