  • Patent number: 5945960
Abstract: An antenna is shaped to provide a predetermined contour and is mounted for universal movement on its support. An electronically controlled drive mechanism is operatively associated with the antenna to rotate the antenna to preselected positions corresponding to specific target locations. A fixed feed horn excites the antenna to generate a first radiation pattern which conforms to the shape of a primary desired target location when the antenna is moved to a first position and a second radiation pattern which conforms to the shape of a secondary desired target location when the antenna is moved to a second position. By further designing the antenna shape, multiple contoured beams for multiple target locations are obtained.

  • Patent number: 5113197
Abstract: A multiple beam array antenna that is designed with an aperture shape which conforms to the particular coverage area to which the antenna is directed. The antenna consists of individual horn antennas (20) that are nested together to form the array (14). The outer walls (50) of the peripherally disposed horn antennas (40) are individually shaped such that the combined shape of the outer walls (50) of the peripherally disposed horn antennas (40) determine the perimeter shape of the aperture (12) of the horn array (14). Where the desired coverage area is circular, elliptical or irregularly shaped, the shape of the perimeter of the aperture (12) of the horn array (14) is similarly circular, elliptical or irregularly shaped, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4335388
Abstract: This specification discloses a multibeam antenna which produces a null at one or more specified points with greater frequency band width for a given null depth. For example, a ring of beams about the null are set to have a phase difference between adjacent beams of 360.degree. divided by the number of beams in the ring. The amplitude of each of the beams is chosen so that each such ring set is self-nulled at the intended null and any common change in the side lobes of all beams of a ring set at the null due to frequency change is substantially equal. Thus, even with change in frequency, the null depth and position is substantially unchanged.
