  • Patent number: 12247796
Abstract: A system for removing or reducing the accumulation of fouling deposits within furnaces and heat exchangers in industrial systems by introducing a periodic steam blast. The steam blast is directed into the process stream from which fouling deposits precipitate onto the heat exchanger surfaces. The steam blast increases the flow rates, creates turbulence and increases the temperature within the heat exchanger to dislodge foulant in both soft and hardened states from internal surfaces upon which foulants have adhered and accumulated.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 10, 2021
Date of Patent: March 11, 2025
    Assignee: Phillips 66 Company
Inventors: Tyler J. Stephenson, Keith H. Lawson, Bryony J. Merrall, Brody L McDougal, Howard L. Wilson
  • Patent number: 12083449
Abstract: A process for removing or reducing the accumulation of fouling deposits within furnaces and heat exchangers in industrial systems by introducing a periodic steam blast. The steam blast is directed into the process fluid from which fouling deposits precipitate onto the heat exchanger surfaces. The steam blast increases the flow rates, creates turbulence and increases the temperature within the heat exchanger to dislodge foulant in both soft and hardened states from internal surfaces upon which foulants have adhered and accumulated.

  • Publication number: 20220186128
Abstract: A process for removing or reducing the accumulation of foulant within furnaces and heat exchangers in industrial systems such as an oil refinery by introducing a periodic steam blast. The steam blast is directed into the fluid stream from which the foulants form on to the heat exchanger surfaces. The steam blast increases the flow rates, creates turbulence and increases the temperature within the heat exchanger to dislodge foulant in both a soft and hardened states from internal surfaces upon which foulants have adhered and accumulated.

  • Patent number: 8080156
Abstract: Methods and apparatus relate to removal of mercury from crude oil. Such removal relies on transferring mercury from a liquid hydrocarbon stream to a natural gas stream upon contacting the liquid hydrocarbon stream with the natural gas stream. Processing of the natural gas stream after used to strip the mercury from the liquid hydrocarbon stream removes the mercury from the natural gas stream.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 10, 2009
Date of Patent: December 20, 2011
    Assignee: ConocoPhillips Company
Inventors: Joseph B. Cross, Probjot Singh, Richard D. Sadok, Howard L. Wilson, John M. Hays
