  • Patent number: 5702668
Abstract: Novel cobalt-free iron-base, wear-resistant and anti-galling, hardfacing alloys are provided. These alloys are capable of being deposited on substrates by welding without preheating the substrate, thus facilitating field applications of cobalt-free alloys.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 6, 1996
Date of Patent: December 30, 1997
Assignee: Electric Power Research Insitute, Inc.
Inventors: Howard Ocken, Shane J. Findlan, Michael K. Phillips
  • Patent number: 4803045
Abstract: Novel wear-resistant, anti-galling, cobalt-free hardfacing iron based alloys are provided which are useful for construction of plant or manufacturing facility components exposed to aggressive environments. The alloys are particularly useful to construct components used in the cooling systems of nuclear power plants.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 24, 1986
Date of Patent: February 7, 1989
Assignee: Electric Power Research Institute, Inc.
Inventors: Evan K. Ohriner, Edward P. Whelan, Tsuguyasu Wada, Howard Ocken
  • Patent number: 4120752
Abstract: A fuel pellet comprised of an inner cylindrical part provided with a mixture of uranium oxide and plutonium oxide, and an outer annular part integral with the inner part and containing uranium oxide free of plutonium oxide. The fuel pellet is adapted to be inserted into a fuel rod with other such pellets in end-to-end relationship. The pellet is formed by cold pressing the uranium oxide and plutonium oxide in respective inner and outer parts, then sintering the parts to form a monolithic body with the two parts integral with each other.
