  • Publication number: 20090307676
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for reducing the size of a set of computer code by replacing unused functions in the set of code with void functions having no operative content. The invention may be applied to a core operating system in order to reduce the amount of code that is permanently loaded on a computing device while the device is operating, thereby potentially reducing the requirements for both read-only non-execute-in-place memory and randomly addressable memory. The removed functionality may be provided separately in read-only memory if desired, so that it can be loaded when needed.

  • Publication number: 20090199171
Abstract: A method of reducing the size of a set of computer code intended for use in a computing device, the set of code being intended for loading into memory automatically when the computing device is powered up, and comprising functions for performing computing tasks, the method comprising: specifying a particular use of the computing device; identifying those functions in the set of computer code that will be required in order to implement the said use of the computing device; and removing the identified functions from the set of code and placing them in a separate computer code library.

  • Publication number: 20070006119
Abstract: The invention automatically produces a structural analysis of a software system's executables, separated into levels based on ‘dependency depth’. Given a simple list of executables' dependencies, the tool automatically produces a dependency table sorted by level, with the least dependent executables listed at the bottom and with the most dependent at the top. This organises the executables in a rational and repeatable manner that clarifies the high-level view of the inter-dependencies between the many executables. It can also be used to decide the order in which executables need to be built where the least dependent executable is built first.

  • Publication number: 20050103421
Abstract: A process is described of forming a structure by diffusion bonding and superplastic forming at least one skin sheet (16,18) and at least one core sheet (10,12), the process comprising: a) forming a pack from the at least one skin sheet (16,18) and the at least one core sheet (10,12); b) placing the pack in a mould (20) and heating the pack to a temperature at which the sheets are capable of superplastic deformation; c) injecting a gas between the skin sheet (16,18) and the core sheet (10,12) to urge the skin sheet against an internal face of the mould (20) thereby forming a cavity (30) between the skin sheet (16,18) and the core sheet (10,12); d) injecting gas on the side of the core sheet (10,12) remote from the skin sheet (16,18) to urge the core sheet (10,12) against the skin sheet (16,18), e) maintaining gas pressure on the said side of the core sheet (10,12), thereby forming a diffusion bond between the skin sheet (16,18) and the core sheet (10,12); and f) maintaining a regulated pressure of heli

  • Patent number: 6160787
Abstract: A double sided (or higher multiple sided) data storing compact disc for optically recorded data has data surfaces that are separated by a thin film of wavelength selective material that passes light of one frequency and reflects light of a second (or multiple) frequency. The thin film either passively relies upon the inherent interference between light signals reflected from its upper and lower surfaces or is an active material that reflects light of one frequency and transmits light of a second frequency. A further aspect of the present invention is the method for the manufacture of such a multi-surfaced disc.

  • Patent number: 4070451
Abstract: There is provided an improved hoof-treatment composition comprising basically and essentially an aqueous emulsion of a relatively material amount of each of a glycerol stearate, lanolin wax, lanolin alcohols, stearic acid, mineral oil, and paraffin, together with a relatively lesser amount of each of a polysorbate, sodium lauryl sulfate, a hydrolyzed animal protein, and imidazolinidyl urea. Glycerine, petrolatum, and beeswax, each in a relatively material amount, may also be included with advantage. Desirably, one or more of a lower alkyl p-hydroxy-benzoate, a coloring ingredient, a perfume ingredient, and vitamin E, each in a relatively lesser amount, may be present.

  • Patent number: 3973412
Abstract: A torque-limiting coupling having two co-axial rotary members interconnected by one or more shear pins extending between two fixing blocks detachably secured one to each of the two rotary members. Each shear pin is firmly secured in bores in the two blocks, and each block is firmly secured by two screws onto a chordal flat on the periphery of each rotary member, so that, in the event of a pin being sheared, the blocks with the broken pin can be removed radially and then replaced with another pin. In a coupling having two or more pins the shear load is distributed equally between the pins. Each pin may be bonded in the bores in the fixing blocks. Alternatively, each pin may be a loose fit in the bores and the block dimensioned so that when it is screwed firmly onto its chordal flat the block is flexed or deformed so as to reduce the diameter of the bore and thereby clamp the shear pin firmly in the bore.
