  • Publication number: 20110045080
Abstract: The present invention includes single-walled carbon nanotube compositions for the delivery of siRNA and methods of making such single-walled carbon nanotube compositions. A single-walled carbon nanotube composition for delivery of siRNA includes a nonfunctionalized single-walled carbon nanotube; and siRNA noncovalently complexed with the nonfunctionalized single-walled carbon nanotube, wherein the siRNA solubilizes such nonfunctionalized single-walled carbon nanotube.

  • Patent number: 6584673
Abstract: A planar carbon segment commutator assembly made by forming an annular conductor substrate with an annular front projection extending integrally and axially from a front surface of the substrate. An annular carbon disk is formed on the conductor substrate by overmolding a carbon compound onto the front surface of the conductor substrate and around the annular front projection. The conductor substrate is mounted on an insulating hub. Electrically isolated, circumferentially-spaced commutator segments and corresponding mechanically interlocked conductor sections are formed by making radial cuts through the annular carbon disk and the metal substrate, respectively. According to one embodiment, each of the front projections has a greater cross-sectional area at a distal end than at a base end to mechanically lock the commutator segments onto the conductor sections.

  • Patent number: 5476177
Abstract: A material classification device for separation of solid materials, having a relatively high specific gravity, from a stream of fluid and solid material. The device is particularly suited for the extraction of gold from alluvial material. The device generally comprises an open conduit that has a first opening and a second opening therethrough. A container is attached to the bottom of the conduit so that the openings are in fluid flow communication with the container. A portion of the flow of fluid and materials passes through the first opening and is captured in the container. A tube passes into the container with an aperture therein so that a fluid may be passed into the container to agitate the material collected therein freeing the lighter material so that it can exit the container out the second opening.

  • Patent number: 5208979
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a multiple part component such as a connecting rod by integrally forming the connecting rod in one piece, laser cutting a stress riser along a surface of the connecting rod characterized by a deep and narrow groove and applying a tension force to separate the connecting rod into two parts, a main body and a bearing cap.

  • Patent number: 4688527
Abstract: For inclusion within a cast metal cylinder head for an internal combustion engine, a ceramic valve seating and stem supporting integral device for supporting and sealingly interacting with a conventional engine poppet-type valve. The integral valve seating portion has an annularly shaped valve seat defining a circular configuration for sealing engagement with the poppet-type valve. The valve supporting portion is of tubular configuration. Also included are connecting ceramic portions between the valve seat forming portion and the valve stem supporting portion. The device is integrally cast together to form a unit for subsequent inclusion within the metal cylinder head of the internal combustion engine by casting. Resultantly, the axis of the tubular valve support portion ispositioned normal to the plane of the annular valve seat and its circular valve seat surface and with the axis of the tubular support portion being coaxially aligned with the axis of the valve seat portion.

  • Patent number: 4304516
Abstract: A solid waste disposal system employs solid waste transport trailers adapted to be towed by a tractor. The trailers each comprise a closed body of a generally rectangular cross-section having a bottom, side and top walls, a forward end wall and a rear end wall. The top wall proximal to the forward end wall is provided with a loading neck through which solid waste can be loaded. The rear end wall is a door hinged at the rear edge of the top wall and is adapted to be closed during the loading operation and transport of the solid waste and opened for the unloading of the solid waste. A conveyor is located adjacent the bottom wall of the trailer and extends substantially over the entire length of the bottom wall. The conveyor is operable during loading and unloading to move the solid waste in a direction from the forward end wall toward the rear end wall. The trailer is supported by ground wheels with tires, the wheels being low pressure flotation tires to facilitate the use of the trailer on landfill sites.
