  • Patent number: 5417081
Abstract: A modular refrigeration apparatus containing a cabinet with a front opening and divided into lower and upper portions, for separately receiving a plurality of removable modular units, said removable modular units including one of a selected plurality of interchangeable storage units and a universal refrigeration unit. A selected one of the plurality of interchangeable storage units is positioned within the upper portion of the cabinet for storing a plurality of containers. The refrigeration unit is positioned within the lower portion of the cabinet and in communication with the upper portion for cooling the entire interior of the cabinet. The cabinet is designed so that the interchangeable storage units and refrigeration unit can be respectfully removed or inserted from the cabinet without affecting the other units.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 14, 1994
Date of Patent: May 23, 1995
    Assignee: The Coca-Cola Company
Inventors: Arthur G. Rudick, Shaun B. Gatipon, Howard W. Wachenheim

  • Patent number: 5402654
Abstract: A modular refrigeration system for use in a cabinet with a front opening for receiving the unit and divided into a lower section and a refrigerated upper section. The refrigeration unit is positioned such that the lower section of the cabinet holds a condenser that is in communication with an evaporator positioned in the upper section for cooling the interior of the cabinet. The condenser includes a condenser fan that draws air from outside the cabinet and across a plurality of cooling coils of the condenser for cooling the refrigerant. Warm air currents are directed by the condenser fan into an exhaust channel that creates an independent flow of air across the condenser's compressor due to an aspiration effect within the exhaust channel. Additionally, the refrigeration unit may be easily removed from or inserted into the cabinet without affecting other modular units in the cabinet.

  • Patent number: 5371830
Abstract: An infrared electric liquid heater includes an elongated emitter unit contained within an outer containment tube to define an annular volume through which the to-be-heated water flows. The emitter unit includes a tubular silica-composition envelope that comes into direct contact with the water to be heated. A tungsten filament is contained within the envelope and is supported along the longitudinal axis by spaced-apart filament supports. The envelope is fabricated from a silica composition discovered to provide unique structural properties; the envelope drawn from a melt (by volume) of 99.88% to 99.94% pure silica (SiO.sub.2), 0.04% to 0.08% crystalline sodium borax (Na.sub.2 B.sub.4 O.sub.7.10H.sub.2), and 0.2% to 0.04% hydroxide of potassium (KOH). This composition has demonstrated a structural strength that allows for a high efficiency in-line, instant-on heater using only a single silica wall separating the electrically energized filament from the liquid being heated.
