The image scanner includes a casing; a carriage module disposed inside the casing for picking up image data of an object to be scanned and converting the image data into digital data; a wireless transmitter incorporated into the carriage module for receiving and modulating the digital data into wireless signals and transmitting the wireless signals out; and a wireless receiver separate from the carriage module and being in communication with a processing system for receiving and demodulating the wireless signals from the wireless transmitter into the digital data and outputting the digital data to the processing system for further processing.

The flat flexible cable is electrically connected between a circuit board and a carriage and bends differentially with the movement of the carriage relative to the circuit board under a scanning platform. The mechanism includes a confining member disposed between a first portion of the flat flexible cable and the scanning platform for isolating the flat flexible cable from the scanning platform. The confining member changes states and bends differentially with the movement of the carriage relative to the circuit board under the scanning platform, and has a bending resistance greater than that of the flat flexible cable. Accordingly, the confining member is kept at least a certain clearance from the scanning platform while confining the first portion of the flat flexible cable thereunder.

    Abstract: An anti-abrasive flat flexible cable applied to a flatbed scanner is provided to avoid abrasion occurring between the flat flexible cable and a platform of the flatbed scanner. The anti-abrasive flat flexible connected between a circuit board and a carriage of the flatbed scanner bends differentially with the forward or backward movement of the carriage under the platform. It includes a flexible main body connected to the circuit board and the carriage respectively for transmitting electric signals between the circuit board and the carriage; and a weighting object arranged on a portion of the flexible main body, which is possibly to be bent during the movement of the carriage, for pulling the main flexible body away from the platform so as to avoid abrasion.
