  • Patent number: 7382261
Abstract: A predetermined ID code is set in a server, and a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is configured on an electronic device. A tag ID code of the RFID tag is received by a reader and then is transmitted to the server. The server is used to compare the tag ID code and the predetermined ID code. When the tag ID code is the same as the predetermined ID code, the server is arranged to transmit an enable signal to grant the access of the electronic device. When the tag ID code is different from the predetermined ID code, the server is arranged to send a disable signal to deny the access of the electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20070105540
Abstract: A portable electronic device to detect wireless signals in a shutdown state comprises a motherboard module with an internally embedded controller (EC) and a display module with a wireless signal detector, when in a shutdown state, the portable electronic device activates the wireless signal detector via the embedded controller and when the wireless signal detector detects a wireless signal, the portable electronic device boots and links to a wireless local area network automatically via the firmware of the embedded controller; which embedded controller also controls an indication lamp to give a prompt of booting the device and linking to the wireless local area network manually. The portable electronic device ensures time and energy saving with extended service life by avoiding repeated booting and shutdown of the device.
