Patent number: 9754421Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is a collage engine that generates informative viewpoints of a 3D model based upon the editing history of the 3D model. In operation, the collage engine processes an editing log to identify segments of the 3D model that include related vertices. For a given segment, the collage engine selects a viewpoint used by the end-user to edit the 3D model and a viewpoint used by the end-user to inspect the 3D model. The collage engine may then present the informative viewpoints to the end-user for inclusion in a collage of 2D renderings based upon the informative viewpoints. Generally, the viewpoints used while editing and inspecting the 3D model are of importance in the overall presentation of the 3D model. Therefore, collages of 2D renderings based upon the informative viewpoints can be generated effectively.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2015Date of Patent: September 5, 2017Assignee: AUTODESK, INC.Inventors: Hsiang-Ting Chen, Tovi Grossman, Wei Li-Yi, Ryan Michael Schmidt, Bjoern Hartmann, George Fitzmaurice, Maneesh Agrawala

Publication number: 20130076773Abstract: A nonlinear revision control system for images is designed with the common digital editing and sketching workflows in mind. DAG (directed acyclic graph) is used as the core structure and DAG nodes represent editing operations, and DAG edges indicate the corresponding spatial, temporal and semantic relationships. DAG is visualized in RevG (revision graph), which provides not only a meaningful display of the revision history, but also an intuitive interface for common revision control operations such as review, replay, diff, addition, branching, merging, and conflict resolving. Beyond revision control, the system also facilitates artistic creation processes in common image editing and digital painting workflows. A prototype system has been built upon GIMP, an open source image editor, and demonstrates its effectiveness through a formative user study and comparisons with alternative revision control systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2011Publication date: March 28, 2013Inventors: Hsiang-Ting CHEN, Li-Yi Wei, Chun-Fa Chang

Patent number: 8107763Abstract: An image brightness adjusting method is provided. The brightness values of all pixels of the image are firstly increased in various increasing degrees. Next, the increased brightness values are decreased in various decreasing degrees according to the original brightness values, thereby avoiding over-increasing the brightness values of the image. Moreover, the use of the color saturation values to adjust the brightness values can avoid the unnatural image appearance.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 2008Date of Patent: January 31, 2012Assignee: Primax Electronics Ltd.Inventors: Ying-Jieh Huang, Chiou-Shann Fuh, Hsiang-Ting Chen
