  • Publication number: 20230324963
Abstract: A card riser for an information handling system includes a bottom surface, multiple connector slots in physical communication with the bottom surface, and a locking mechanism in physical communication with the bottom surface. Each connector slot is configured to receive a corresponding connector of a different one of multiple cards. When the locking mechanism is in an unlocked position, a different one of the cards is inserted within a different one of the connector slots. When the locking mechanism is in a locked position, the locking mechanism is placed in physical communication with each of the cards to securely hold the cards within the card riser.

  • Patent number: 11739929
Abstract: An information handling system may include one or more illuminable icons to present information to a user of the system, such as information regarding a status of the information handling system. An illuminable icon may be lit by a plurality of light sources, and light from the plurality of light sources may be diffused across the illuminable icon by a light guide film. Some illuminable icons may have multiple portions that may be separately illuminated to convey different information to a user. An isolation block may prevent light from light sources configured to illuminate one portion of an illuminable icon from illuminating other portions of the illuminable icon. Thus, light for illuminating icons of an information handling system may be diffused and/or blocked to enhance aesthetic appeal of the icons and to prevent user confusion that may result from bleeding of light from one portion of an illuminable icon to another and/or uneven illumination of an icon.

  • Publication number: 20230225070
Abstract: Securing a riser cage and/or electronic components coupled thereto within an information handling system can be accomplished using a riser cage apparatus. The riser cage may be configured to removably secure the electronic components to a surface of the information handling system using one or more fasteners configured to couple the riser cage to a surface of a chassis. The one or more fasteners may comprise a protrusion configured to engage a pin coupled to the surface. The protrusion of the one or more fasteners may be movable relative to the riser cage between a first locked position in which the pin coupled to the surface is engaged by the protrusion and a second unlocked position in which the pin coupled to the surface is not engaged by the protrusion.

  • Patent number: 11375635
Abstract: A chassis for housing a computing device of an information handling system includes an expansion card receiver. The chassis also includes an electrical receiver decoupler that partially ejects an expansion card from the expansion card receiver when an electrical connector of the expansion card is coupled to an electrical receiver of the expansion card receiver that enables the expansion card to be operably connected to a second component of the computing device. Partially ejecting the expansion card does not require the user of the chassis to physically contact the expansion card directly.

  • Patent number: 11304327
Abstract: An enclosure for installation in a server rack has front panel access to multiple release mechanisms. The front panel access allows separate and safe dual tasking of both hot and cold swaps. A hot swap mechanism allows a sled to be ejected while retaining a connection to electrical power. A separate cold swap mechanism releases the sled and also disconnects the electrical connection. When the hot swap mechanism is engaged or enabled, one or more mechanical linkages operate to lock out access to the cold swap mechanism. When the cold swap mechanism is engaged or enabled, the mechanical linkages interferes or blocks manual operation of the hot swap mechanism. Both the hot swap mechanism and the cold swap mechanism thus cannot be inadvertently and/or simultaneously performed.

  • Patent number: 10863644
Abstract: A cam mounting mechanism (“CMM”) includes a detachable mounting tray (“tray”) that includes a base and two side walls. Each side wall includes engagement notches that receive a respective engagement member of a sled enclosure of a server chassis. The CMM includes two internal sliding rails (“IRRs”), each being attached to an internal surface of a respective side wall of the tray by a respective fastener that extends through a respective slide slot of the IRR, and each including the respective slide slots and multiple guide slots. Each slide slot enables the IRR to slide longitudinally relative to the side wall. Each guide slot slidably receives a respective engagement member and is shaped to constrain the tray to vertical movement relative to the sled enclosure while constraining the IRR to longitudinal movement. The CMM includes a cam handle that rotates in order to drive both IRRs to move in unison.
