Patent number: 10598985Abstract: A front-lit display includes a light source, a coupling lens, a first and a second polarizers, a light guide plate, and a reflective display panel. The light guide plate has a first surface, a second surface, a side surface connecting the first and second surfaces, and light guiding microstructures located between the first and second surfaces. The first polarizer, the coupling lens, and the light source are sequentially disposed at a side of the side surface. Light emitting elements of the light source that emit light beams of different colors are arranged along a first direction instead of a second direction. The first direction is parallel to the side surface and the first surface, and the second direction is parallel to the side surface and perpendicular to the first surface. The coupling lens includes vertical columnar structures arranged along the first direction and respectively extending along the second direction.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2019Date of Patent: March 24, 2020Assignee: Himax Display, Inc.Inventors: Kuan-Yu Chen, Yuet-Wing Li, Kuan-Hsu Fan-Chiang, Hsien-Chang Tsai

Publication number: 20170045768Abstract: Provided is a method of fabricating a liquid crystal display panel. An active device array substrate and an opposite substrate are provided, wherein the active device array substrate includes a first substrate and a first electrode layer, and the opposite substrate includes a second substrate and a second electrode layer. A first alignment film is formed on the first electrode layer and a second alignment film is formed on the second electrode layer. A sealant composition including an adhesive and conductive particles is applied on one of the first alignment film and the second alignment film. The active device array substrate and the opposite substrate are assembled, wherein the assembling step includes heating the sealant composition so as to merge a part of the conductive particles into a conductive material piercing through the first alignment film and the second alignment film, respectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2015Publication date: February 16, 2017Inventors: Chia-Yeh Tsai, Hsing-Lung Wang, Kuan-Hsu Fan Chiang, Hsien-Chang Tsai
