Patent number: 10263422Abstract: A shutdown controlling method is applied to a system that has a host computer, a PDU and multiple electric apparatus connected to the PDU. The PDU has multiple outlets and stores preset shutdown periods for the outlets respectively. The PDU communicates with the electric apparatus and obtains their required shutdown periods. When PDU is controlled to cut off an outlet, the PDU determines whether the preset shutdown period of the outlet is larger than the required shutdown period. If yes, the PDU cuts out the AC power of the outlet. If not, the PDU cancels the shutdown command and notifies the host computer. Therefore, a manager may update the preset shutdown period of the outlet to ensure that each electric apparatus has enough time to be safely shut down.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2015Date of Patent: April 16, 2019Inventor: Hsien-Hsun Liu

Patent number: 9929592Abstract: A UPS sensitivity of power status parameter adjustment setting method used in UPS system for allowing sensitivity setting of power status parameter manually by user or according to system default value. Microcontroller can automatically switch sensitivity to HIGH to enhance power protection if power status of input power supply is judged in the range set according to option of energy-saving, electrical safety or set time in priority after completing counting time. If power generator of relatively lower power quality level is used for input power supply, microcontroller can automatically switch sensitivity to LOW subject to option of energy-saving in priority and employ a low-sensitivity detection of power judgment, maintaining USP system in normal mode without being changed to battery mode, preventing system shutdown due to complete discharge of stored energy systems, and UPS system can operate normally, and power supply of stored energy systems can be prolonged and well-protected.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2015Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: Cyberpower Systems, Inc.Inventors: Chun-Chao Liao, Chao-Ching Yang, Hsien-Hsun Liu

Patent number: 9812899Abstract: A method for automatically strengthening energy-saving and electrical safety is disclosed used in a UPS system to perform auto execution of energy-saving and power usage setting. In auto execution, manual setting and auto setting are provided for selection. When entering manual setting, it is to set power environment, time or empirical parameter setting. When entering auto setting, the system will collect power environment, load status and power usage data, and then make sure of priority judgment condition, and then perform data statistic and storage, and then automatically execute Eco Mode or Normal Mode after analysis and judgment. Thus, a user can let the UPS system to collect analyzed data, and then automatically switch the operating mode according to the analysis, enhancing ease of use and lowering the use threshold.Type: GrantFiled: September 9, 2015Date of Patent: November 7, 2017Assignee: Cyberpower Systems, Inc.Inventors: Chun-Chao Liao, Chao-Ching Yang, Hsien-Hsun Liu

Patent number: 8897896Abstract: A controlling system has a computer having a controlling interface, a PDU linking to the computer and multiple electric apparatus connected and linking to the PDU and the computer. The PDU has multiple outlets, a turn-off time for each outlet. The controlling interface of the computer presets that the turn-off time for each outlet and has a shut-down option. The shut-down option has outlet numbers, a main time axis, and multiple variable time axes. Each variable time axis has a start time and an end time. A total period of each variable time axis between the start time and the end time is determined according to the shut-down period of the corresponding electric apparatus. The start time and the end time of each variable time axis are adjustable, but the total time thereof is fixed. Once the start times and the end times are determined finally, the turn-off times for the outlet numbers are calculated and further sent to the PDU.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2012Date of Patent: November 25, 2014Assignee: Cyber Power Systems Inc.Inventor: Hsien-Hsun Liu

Patent number: 8868937Abstract: A method of remotely controlling power distribution units enables the power distribution units to automatically transmit messages to a server once connected to the server via a network. When a user logs into a server and requests to remotely control the associated power distribution units, the user only needs to enter the serial numbers or identification data thereof. The server then automatically searches for all power distribution units owned by the user, and provides a group management interface. The user can then group the power distribution units according to their locations or their properties in order to control the on and off thereof. Without knowing the IP addresses of the power distribution units, the user can readily control the power distribution units at different locations remotely.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2011Date of Patent: October 21, 2014Assignee: Cyber Power Systems Inc.Inventors: Hsien-Hsun Liu, Hung-Ming Hsieh, Hung-Chun Chien

Publication number: 20130226363Abstract: A shut-down controlling system for power distribution unit (PDU) has a computer a PDU and multiple electric apparatus connected to the PDU. The PDU has multiple outlets and stores a shut-down controlling procedure and a shut-down period for each of the outlet. The PDU automatically communicates with the electric apparatus and obtains the actual shut-down period of the present electric apparatus. The PDU further determines whether the preset shut-down period is larger than the actual shut-down. If yes, the PDU cuts out the AC power source of the selected outlet when the preset shut-down period is achieved. If not, the PDU cancels the shut-down command and notifies the computer. Therefore, a manager will resets the shut-down period of the selected outlet to ensure that each electric apparatus has enough time to complete the shut-down procedure.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2012Publication date: August 29, 2013Applicant: CYBER POWER SYSTEMS INC.Inventor: HSIEN-HSUN LIU
