  • Publication number: 20120187436
Abstract: A light emitting diode (LED) device includes a substrate, a supporting member, an electrode layer, an LED chip and an encapsulant. The substrate has a first surface and a second surface. The substrate defines a hole extending through the first surface and the second surface. The supporting member is attached to the second surface of the substrate and covers the hole. The supporting member and the substrate cooperatively define a cavity. The electrode layer is arranged on the first surface of the substrate and an inner surface of the cavity. The encapsulant is arranged on the electrode layer and covers the LED chip.

  • Publication number: 20040259237
Abstract: This invention relates to methods and apparatus for performing microanalytic and microsynthetic analyses and procedures. The invention provides a microsystem platform and a micromanipulation device for manipulating the platform that utilizes the centripetal force resulting from rotation of the platform to motivate fluid movement through microchannels. The invention specifically provides devices and methods for performing miniaturized in vitro amplification assays such as the polymerase chain reaction. Methods specific for the apparatus of the invention for performing PCR are provided.

  • Publication number: 20040089616
Abstract: This invention provides methods and apparatus for performing microanalytic and microsynthetic analyses and procedures. Specifically, the invention provides a microsystem platform for use with a micromanipulation device to manipulate the platform by rotation, thereby utilizing the centripetal force resulting from rotation of the platform to motivate fluid movement through microchannels embedded in the microplatform. The microsystem platforms of the invention are also provided having microfluidics components, resistive heating elements, temperature sensing elements, mixing structures, capillary and sacrificial valves, and methods for using these microsystems platforms for performing biological, enzymatic, immunological and chemical assays.
