Patent number: 9808793Abstract: Differing from the startup temperature of partial oxidation of butane (POB) reaction stimulated by conventional rhodium-based or nickel-based catalyst reaches 700° C. or above, the present invention particularly discloses a novel catalyst consisting of fluorite-type oxide support and Ni active metal for being applied in hydrogen production by low temperature partial oxidation of light hydrocarbon (POLH), so as to effectively reduce the startup temperature of the POLH reaction. In the present invention, the said light hydrocarbon means methane, ethane, propane, or butane. Moreover, a variety of experimental data have proved that this novel catalyst makes the startup temperature of POB reactions be lowered to 250° C. On the other hand, the experimental data have also proved that, the carbon deposition formed on the catalyst during POB reaction can be obviously improved after adding a few amount of platinum into the constituting ingredients of the novel catalyst.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2016Date of Patent: November 7, 2017Assignee: National Tsing Hua UniversityInventors: Yu-Chen Huang, Hsin-Yi Liu

Patent number: 9239742Abstract: Embedded systems are provided, which includes a processing unit and a memory. The processing unit simultaneously executes first thread having a flag for performing a data acquisition operation and second thread for performing a data process and output operation for the acquired data in the data acquisition operation. The flag is used for indicating whether a state of the first thread is in an execution state or a sleep state. The memory which is coupled to the processing unit provides a shared buffer for the first and second threads. Before executing the second thread, the flag is checked to determine whether to execute the second thread, wherein the second thread is executed when the flag indicates the sleep state while execution of the second thread is suspended when the flag indicates the execution state.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2012Date of Patent: January 19, 2016Assignee: INSTITUTE FOR INFORMATION INDUSTRYInventors: Hsin-Yi Liu, Chih-Chiang Kao, Cheng-Hung Pan, Chun-Tai Yen

Publication number: 20150209207Abstract: A wheelchair system includes a wheelchair including at least one adjustable seating function, a sensor system in operative connection with the wheelchair which includes at least one sensor to measure or sense a position of the at least one adjustable seating function, a processor system in operative connection with the sensor system, a memory system in operative connection with the processor system, and a communication system in operative connection with the processor system. The communication system is, for example, adapted to wirelessly communicate with one or more remote systems (that is, a system remote from the wheelchair; for example a remote system or server, which may include a database). The wheelchair system further includes a user interface system in operative connection with the processor system and at least one application stored on the memory system and executable by the processor system.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 30, 2015Publication date: July 30, 2015Inventors: RORY ALAN COOPER, YU-KUANG WU, BRANDON JOSEPH DAVELER, HSIN-YI LIU, HONGWU WANG, JONATHAN L. Publication number: 20150213965Abstract: A method of making a europium ion doped working electrode, which comprises the following steps: anodizing a Ti foil to obtain an electrode body; dipping the electrode body into an acid solution, which contains 0.035 to 0.045 M of europium ions, followed by thermal treating in a closed system under 100° C. to 180° C. and calcining. Based on the steps above, the fabrication of a working electrode is simplified and the cost is decreased. Also, a europium ion doped working electrode that can enhance the photoelectric conversion efficiency of a back side illuminated TiO2-based DSSC to 153.7 times is obtained.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2014Publication date: July 30, 2015Applicant: National Kaohsiung University of Applied ScienceInventors: Wein-Duo Yang, Hsin-Yi Liu

Publication number: 20100276975Abstract: Angle adjustable backrest made of a lightweight, durable, adjustable, backrest for ultralight manual wheelchairs. Light-weight material can include composites for a rigid backrest for promotion of healthier and functional interface. Angle adjustment can be any desired range such as a range from ?5 degree to 55 degrees (i.e. 85 degrees to 145 degree with respect to horizontal with the seat). No tools are necessary for any of the angle adjustments. The backrest has a horizontal adjustment (fore-aft) that can be any desired range such as 1 inch. The height selection depends on the length of the wheelchair frame tubes. The present invention improves the ease and simplicity of adjusting the backrest by or for the user, as well as enhances the aesthetic appearance and adds features necessary for achieving commercial readiness. The present invention can be retro fit onto a wide range for ultralight wheelchairs.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 30, 2010Publication date: November 4, 2010Inventors: Rory Alan Cooper, Jonathan Lee Pearlman, Todd Hargroder, Eun-Kyoung Hong, Hsin-Yi Liu, Hongwu Wang, Benjamin Arthur Salatin
