  • Publication number: 20130056067
Abstract: A photovoltaic module includes at least one photovoltaic cell, a back plate, at least two ribbons, an encapsulant layer, and a filler. The back plate is disposed over the photovoltaic cell, in which the back plate has a ribbon hole therein. The ribbons are electrically connected to the photovoltaic cell and pass through the ribbon hole. The encapsulant layer is disposed between the back plate and the photovoltaic cell, in which the encapsulant layer has at least one through hole therein, and both of the ribbons pass through the through hole. The filler fills the through hole of the encapsulant layer, in which a flowability of a material of the filler is greater than a flowability of a material of the encapsulant layer.

  • Publication number: 20110259415
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a backsheet for a photovoltaic module. The backsheet includes a nanocomposite layer, a first polymeric layer and a second polymeric layer. The nanocomposite layer includes a polymeric matrix and a plurality of silicate nanoparticles dispersed therein. The polymeric matrix includes at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyimide, polyethylene terephthalate and nylon. The silicate nanoparticles are made from a silicate clay selected from the group consisting of montmorillonite, sepiolite, fluoromica and vermiculite. The silicate clay is present at a concentration of about 0.5-20% by weight of the nanocomposite layer. The nanocomposite layer is disposed between the first polymeric layer and the second polymeric layer.

  • Publication number: 20110155221
Abstract: A solar panel includes a front glass, a photovoltaic film, a back glass, an encapsulant sheet and a weather-resist filler. The photovoltaic film is formed on the front glass. The back glass has a smaller or larger area than the front glass has, but the front and back glasses generally have the same shape. The encapsulant sheet is disposed between the front and back glasses for fully sealing the photovoltaic film and binding the front and back glasses together. When the front and back glasses are overlapped and bound, all bound edges of the front and back glasses define step-like areas. The weather-resist filler is filled onto the step-like areas for fully sealing the encapsulant sheet.

  • Publication number: 20110100669
Abstract: The present invention provides a junction box configured to be used with a photovoltaic module. The junction box comprises a central connecting portion adapted to receive metallic ribbons extended from the photovoltaic module, and a peripheral portion enclosing the central connecting portion. The peripheral portion comprises a plurality of recesses defined therein, and each of the recesses is adapted to receive a snap ring of a cable. Further, each of the recesses has an opening to the exterior of the junction box, and a channel communicating with the central connection portion. The opening and the channel of the recess define a longitudinal axis extending toward the central connection portion. The junction box of the present invention allows cables to be coupled to the photovoltaic module in multiple directions.

  • Publication number: 20100279458
Abstract: A process for making a partially transparent photovoltaic cell or a partially transparent photovoltaic module comprising series-connected or parallel-connected photovoltaic cells comprises the step of forming a patterned back electrode(s) by screen printing, jet printing, roll-to-roll processing or depositing through a shadow mask with openings. The pattern of the back electrode is determined at the same time when the back electrode is disposed, such that the complexity and cost of the process can be reduced.
